Pedestrians, I would like to point out one thing and this may hurt. You do have the right of way at designated cross walks but when you step out in the middle of a street with your bloody phone to your ear and nearly get run over, then it is your problem. Yes vehicles need to be careful but where do you get off stepping out into traffic on a whim. In other countries you would be smoked at 60 km/hr then sued for damages because you were too incompetent. It is about time Haligonians used some fucking common sense —Responsibility Goes Both Ways

  1. what the fuck is with all these fucking crosswalk bitches this year. or last even. haven’t you fucking people learned a thing yet. wait for light then go. no walkway, watch til safe, then go. fuck me people, you don’t have to be a genius. even fucking deer know ow to cross safely.

  2. I can assure you the brick I have in my book bag is not a soft target… Attempt to run me over at your windshields’ detriment.

  3. for real Dartmouthy? must be heavy carrying that around on your back. Not to mention that big chip on your shoulder!

    Just yankin your chain.

  4. Great Bitch. It is so true, but there are so many granolas that totally think you are full of shit.

  5. OB, the precendent was set when a pedestrian was hit by a cargo van on Quinpool…..the pedestrian was held 100% accountable for the damage to the vehicle because they were jaywalking. I don’t bother stopping for jaywalkers now….I just lay on the horn and they usually get out of my way. I also don’t stop for cyclists driving on crosswalks.

  6. So basically what your saying is, it’s more important that you get where ever your going 10 seconds earlier? Other just being an all around good human and stopping the mere 10 seconds it takes you to stop while that person crosses? I don’t agree with jaywalking, but if your out in the pouring rain or a snow storm I’m going to get where I’m going as fast as I can.. If you can’t wait the 2 seconds it takes me to run across the street maybe you shouldn’t have a car.. And I hope some day everyone who posted in this persons defense has to deal with not having a car and license and has to walk some where.. Just remember the whole time your in your nice warm car, getting to where your going faster than someone walking some where and freezing, that could easily be you.. Have some compassion and turn the rage down, we’re all human. – next time you get angry at someone for something petty, put yourself in their shoes.

  7. Please don’t stop for me when I’m jaywalking? Who the fuck asked anyone who is driving to slow down for jaywalkers? Only ni this banjo-stroking shit hole would a car driver think stopping mid block to let someone cross illegally is a good idea. And then get mad at the pedestrian. Fuck sakes!!
If I’m gonna jaywalk, and I do, all the time, I’ll do it on my own terms. I can look right, and look left and survey the fucking situation, got it? Keep on trucking with your van halen blasting and your kc lights and tractor tires. I’ll cross when I’m goddamn ready!

    Ah. That’s better. Just lost a chip/brick.

  8. I agree with this 110%, There have been so many times I have been driving on South Street near Dal and so many students just walk and talk on their cell phones and don’t even stop and look both ways.

Drivers are not always going to stop, and I sure as hell don’t trust any one but my self behind the wheel.

So if you want to cross the street, do what mommy and daddy taught yeah years ago and LOOK BOTH WAYS, then cross!

  9. Doesn’t matter the situation to me. Look both ways, you could get severely injured by a car going at a slow speed. People are inattentive, in a hurry, you may be in the right but it isn’t worth the pain.

  10. You’re right, some people don’t think before stepping out into the road. But you are driving the big heavy machine, it’s your responsibility to look out for people, even the inattentive, irresponsible ones.

  11. Actually Lisa babe, not if you’ve got the right of way, not if they are J walking. THe onus is on the walker to PAY FUCKING ATTENTION !
Before venturing out where big heavy machines are designated to be.

  12. Bottom line, flesh loses to steel every time, regardless of whose fault it is. A body can stop and turn on a dime, a vehicle cannot.

  13. Just accelerate and honk and scare the sh*t out of the people who don’t look before crossing. The next time they step out on the road they will be sure to look.
