There he been a lot of media attention conserving rental companies in north Dartmouth being so called slum landlords. i see the other side of the story. refusal to pay rent ,in a average 12 unit building 6/7 are in huge erroersin rent that’s 7/12 units on average where the hell do you think the money comes from to pay for upkeep of the building, contractors cost money.dirty life habits, mice rats bedbugs in 1/2 the units, ole worn furniture taken off the street full of bugs(are they ffff stupid) the whole place is then infested!dirty garbage thrown all over the ground, rats and mice pick up on this,I see this every day so start talking to people in the know, and get a tuner picture of conditions.slum tenant a new term . —On the battlefront every day

  1. These slum lords can’t do anything proactive to make living conditions a little better so that people would be more inclined to pay the rent? Also, I think your claims are wildly exaggerated. You don’t wanna be called a slum lord? Do something else.

  2. This bitch should have been printed in crayon with all the ‘S’ letters written backwards.

Shitty buildings will always attract shitty tenants.

  3. If this is how you communicate in print I dread to think what your verbal communication skills with tenants might be like.

  4. Written by a Slumlord I assume… The vernacular and spelling used seems to match most dartmouth building tenant contracts.

  5. No doubt there are plenty of slum landlords who prey on the poor or don’t respond to their request for repairs, pest control, etc.

However, there is also some truth to this bitch – even if it is not up to the editorial standards of this board :-). I have several acquaintances who are decent people and are or, in most cases, were landlords. I’ve heard lots of horror stories.

One used to own a well-kept building on the peninsula. He was constantly going to court to evict people who would just stop paying their rent. It would take months to get them out and they probably just moved into another place and did the same. He eventually sold the building. Another acquaintance rented to some students who left the place an absolute mess so he now refuses to rent to students. Another rented to people who brought in a cat that left its piss scent all though the house impregnated in the wood floors. I could go on but you get the picture.

Personally, I would never become a landlord. There are too many headaches.

  6. Hate too be clichĂ© but, can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Sell the properties, and get a job if it’s so bad you gotta whine about it.

  7. If you’re not a fucking moron, you hire superintendents to take care of day to situations and rule enforcement. Can’t afford a superintendent? Sell the properties and get a job. The only problem I see with OP doing anything else other than being a slum lord, is the fact that he/she writes at a 3rd grade level. I put 3rd instead of third so that OP can possibly understand it… OP, I’m conserved about you. I’m trying to get a tuner picture of conditions.

  8. It is not a solution to the problem but my best advice for any 1 person is get a better job and move.

  9. My slum landlord had to be taken to the tenancy board because they would not do what they were supposed to. On the other hand I would not want to own a rental building and deal with all the crap that happens when you rent out apartments. What a headache.
