My boyfriend and I attempted to go out to a certain stuffy dance club last weekend. After being turned away for wearing denim shorts we watched as about three girls in Daisy dukes enter the bar. We later emailed a complaint only to get the response “there are different rules for girls, I hope you find another bar to have fun at.” So much for customer service. I’m hardly ever one to support the idiots who run the bars in this city, but at least some of them try to uphold some level of “class” – that’s probably the wrong word. If I owned a nightclub I wouldn’t want half the patrons wearing demin shorts, or flip flops or wife beaters either. Unless you establish some sort of standard, there would be even less justification for disallowing people to enter because what they wear would be even more subjective.
And the girls have different rules thing is just one of the many unfair facts of life. The more women in a club, the more exclusivity, the more money. And they’re all in it for the money. You can complain but it will fall on deaf ears.

PS: how aggressive was your email, OB? A lot of times you’ll get shitty responses because your complaint was in a shitty fashion. Not saying it’s acceptable or in good taste/good business sense, but you’ll have a much harder time if you come at something aggressively.

That’s called racial discrimination which is illegal.
Bars are private establishments….they can not let you in for any reason that isn’t illegal. They can also make exceptions to any rules they put in place. Also you realize that most bars do in fact turn people away for racial reasons, but as long as they don’t say “You can’t get it because you’re black/white/brown/green” then they are legally denying you entrance to a private establishment. If you complain then they will claim you were too drunk, weren’t dressed appropriately, , etc.
Its not rocket science. OB wasn’t let in because she was in violation of the dress code and wasn’t pretty enough to get around the rules.

TF, I think Daisy Dukes are so brief they don’t really qualify as ‘denim’ more like threads with a bit of space holding them together. my grand daughter created a couple pair, they weighed less than a moth, for crying out loud.

Personally, I dont get wearing shorts to clubs. I see lots of people doing it, I just think it is weird. OB think of all the sleepless nights you saved yourself from having to see girls in daisy dukes grind around on the dance floor.
