I’m at the dog park, and my little dog was having a great time chasing his ball. Then your pit bull attacks him—just like that. Thank god I yelled enough and he let my dog go. But then the dog jumped up on a woman holding a baby, and the father of the child tore off his shirt, swearing, wanting to fight. Parents began to scoop up their children and leave. It was an awful spectacle all the way around.
I don’t think people should be able to take pit bulls to a dog park. Really, just lock them in the backyard and throw live chickens in for yum-yums.
I’m sick of people having pit bulls as a decoration to prove how tough they are, when they look ridiculous, those badasses. And I won’t even get into the pathetic people that hold dog fights.
I can’t stand any of you and your dangerous pit bulls! Keep them away from the dog parks. Thank you! —Your Dog Attacked
This article appears in May 24-30, 2012.

Hope your dog is all right. You came close to hitting the nail on the head in your third paragraph. It’s the owner; not the breed.
The father of the child tore of his shirt while swearing and wanting to fight? Lolol how dramatic! (I know this is prob not what OP meant).
… but yeah what Ivan said.
ah, so if this were a doberman or mastiff, you’d be fine.
it’s not the powerful, beautiful dog that’s the problem….
it’s the scrawny, redneck ‘hard as fuck’ retards that can’t control the fucking thing that needs to be strung up.
Did the dad at least pound the idiotic owner?
Did the pit bull just sit around and watch?
While it is mostly the owner not the breed. Dogs bred for fighting (Dobermans, mastiffs, pit-bulls, rottweilers etc) are FAR more likely to snap and go back to base instinct before say, a Retriever or Sheppard.
I agree with this bitch. There is a big black dog I think is a rotweiler or something, it has mean black eyes and lives down the road. It barked and chased me while I was on my powerwalk. There you are walking along in the peaceful morning, and then you get the crap scurred outta ya.. Chain your shithounds, for fuck sake. I now carry a can of pepperspray I bought in the states called “whoop ass” and I will blind the next mutt roaming off its leash if it causes alarm.
So, if the owners are the problem, what’s the solution? Spend public money on programs to qualify pontential owners? I think the easier solution is to simply outlaw the breeding of these animals and thereby eventually wipe them out.
I agree what happened is terrible but don’t blame the breed blame the owners.
For those of you advocating a breed ban I would like to offer a hearty “go fuck yourself”.
I own a valley bull, a breed often confused with pit bulls due to the similar head and body shape.
As a responsible dog owner and someone who specifically loves thae animals that have been wrongly demonized by the media; I take affront to your attitude.
I see way more aggression and improper behavior from the lap dogs. Than I have ever seen from larger breeds.
Here’s a good idea: don’t bring your babies and shitty little lap rats to parks where larger dogs are roughhousing.
Last Sunday i was at the cogswell fog park with my dog and large standard poodle that kali often plays with. I ended up leaving thedog park after some middle aged cunt kept getting offended by the fact that my large dog kept stealing her small dogs ball.
What did she expect was going to happen when she came in knowing that 2 large dogs were playin fetch?
“…don’t blame the breed blame the owners.” WTF?! Are you NUTS?
They are made worse by their owners, no question but Pitbulls are a dangerous breed of dog. You don’t see Chihuahua eating babies…
Let’s do this you dumb cunt, put a pitbull into a ring with your child. Are they still okay?
Fucking assholes who believe this shit…
my dog was attacked by a jack russell, do i want them banned? no
It was a Jack Russell… really…
I grew up around pitbulls my entire life, I owned one when I was 4 & lived with him until he died 14 years later. I stuck my face in his face, stole his toys, I tormented the shit out of him & he never, not ONCE, even growled at me. He was loyal, respectful, protective & the best friend I could have ever asked for.
When I was 6 I got attacked by a fucking COCKER SPANIEL! My pitbull, nor the pitbulls I was around my whole life, ever once tried to bite me, or growl at me, or attack me. I had to get plastic surgery, on my fucking face, because of this cocker spaniel.
Believe me when I say “blame the deed & not the breed” & the owners have a lot to do with how their dogs act. My pitbull, rest his soul, was living proof that these dogs are the best fucking dog you can own & it’s all in the way you raise them.
The breed of dog has nothing to do with it, they are wild animals that were domesticated to be our pets, they are not perfect. Why aren’t cocker spaniels banned? Why aren’t shitty little chihuahua’s banned? Every breed of dog has bitten someone. Get the fuck over it.
the solution is to take out your phone… record the incident…
and sue the living fuck out of the douchebag who can’t be bothered to train his/her dog…
but still wants to let it run around munching on others.
you want to neglect your dogs so it can ruin other people’s lives/dog’s lives?
I’m gonna sue you for your lively hood too, asshole.
Someone should start to train all breeds to kill anything that moves so that all breeds can be banned from dog parks, then I can bring my cat there instead.
cat parks FTW
they can all just sit up in the trees, snubbing each other, chasing flies n eating bugs.
Good idea, in theory.
http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2413/1555964…
In practice? – Not so much
Blame the owner not the dog. Its all about how the dog is raised and enviornment. Most important the training is a huge help. This person obviously didn’t take the right steps to train the dog. If the owner is not willing to train the dog properly then the dog should be left home.
This is an obvious troll bitch.
Mister meaty. Chill the fuck out. I’m sure a psychotic rat chihuahua would eat a baby if it were physically possible. My babies godfather has a mixed mastiff and he is sweet as anything he loves playing with my babies and is very gentle. Yes certain breeds that have been bred BY HUMANS to fight etc. are MORE likely to be aggressive. That’s not the dogs fault is it? I’m not saying I think they are harmless, no animal is. All I’m saying is these “dangerous” breeds can be good pets with the right owner.
hi folks, remember me? i am a licenced, trained and ARMED security person. wanna let your mutt fuck around like that, then prepare to bury it. if i ever saw something like that in my travels, that is exactly what the douchebag owner wouldbe doing.
there is a hell of a lot of paperwork to file, for discharging my weapon of choice, and i hate doing paperwork. so just remember that little detail, whenever you decide to take your nutso canine out. and, i’m not saying all dogs are bad, just the ones with stupid owners.
yeah you, the douchebag with the big fancy chains and shit, you are the one that i am looking at. or is it you, the dopey dealer, that thinks they are gotti or even luciano. this could be YOU.
i love dogs, and as a dog lover and dog person, i intensly dislike seeing these types of dogs running amok, or even on a leash. did you know that n.s. had been thinking of banning certain breeds, this helps them decide a lot faster now, remember that brindi mutt? maybe the dogs should stay, and the owners go?
See madein? Even you admit they are a dangerous breed.
Second, no, I won’t “chill out” as stupid people making stupid comments like yours piss me off (read my bio).
Do it – put a pit bull into a ring with your child…
Ya’ dumb cunt
meaty, you twat… if they can train a bear to ride a fucking bicycle then a dog can be trained to ‘not eat people/dogs’
yet… untrained animals eat other animals all the time.
I’d put a child in a ring with a pit bull…
provided I was present for the training of the dog.
Well then, give me your name and address and when you plan to do this. I’ll call CSA and they can determine who’s the twat?!
Someone I know, who will remain anonymous, had a neighbour who had 2 pit bulls that were terrorising the neighbourhood, the cops and animal control didn’t seem capable of fixing the problem so he did. He put fish hooks inside hamburger balls and lobbed them in the yard, the dogs scarfed down the balls and the fish hooks ripped the guts out of the pit bulls, problem solved.
THIS WAS NOT ME BEFORE THE VENOM FLIES.
well you’re as much of a child as any other tween ‘gangsta’ fuckhead…
you tell me when you’re ready.
additionally… I mean, you didn’t even set regulations….
ok, the ring is HRM peninsula, the duration to conclude success is 2 seconds…
There are pit bulls in the city, there are children in the city.
you have taken longer than 2 seconds to read this…. DONE.
not-surprisingly, you’re a fucktard and you’re wrong
i would also like to see more pussy, in or out of a park, hint, hint. by the way, red, i’m free this weekend, up for it again, or are you still sore from last time?
Dalmatians will probably attack a kid much faster than any pit-bull.

Gotta love stereotyping, makes you look like a completely uneducated toolbox. I guess if I saw a black guy rob someone I can only assume that all black people are criminals. If I’m sitting next to a Chinese person, I should assume he/she is good at long division…see where I’m going with this? Go fuck yourself OB, ya racist douchebag.
Hey meaty, I have a mastiff/pitbull mix (that’s extra evil, cause it has two fighting breeds mixed together), I’d gladly put in the ring with my child or anyone elses. I hope the child loooooves kisses and playing “tug”, or maybe a little game of “grabbysnout”.
woof
Cat parks? Should be doable. Just make sure that every last bit of greenery in there is high-grade catnip and set up a few cameras to record the hijinks.
Here we go again with the great dangerous breed debate. There’s no question that all breeds of dog can be good dogs with the right handling. It’s just that certain breeds seem to attract knuckleheads, it’s not the dog’s fault they just take their cue from the pack leader. The problem is that there is not much of a penalty for being a stupid owner of a dog. If any tragedy happens from an aggressive dog, the dog always pays the price. I really don’t have a solution to this debate. It seems totally unfair to ban the breed for both the breed and those responsible owners who love those dogs.
What to do? They’re dogs like any other breed but have physical capabilites to injure that Shelties or Yorkies don’t. Instead of a ban, how about a special license for those “dangerous” dogs. The terms of the license include mandatory training for the prospective owners and obedience training for the canines. No studded collars either. It’s still unfair to decent people but better than a ban.
Leave the breed alone, it’s the owners fault for not training their dog.
Why do so many people automatically blame the breed?
….I guess it is just easier then educating oneself about animal behaviour and animal training.
Well said troodon. That may be a plausible solution. THE biggest difference, for all of you who are comparing pit bulls to jack russels and chihuahuas is that the smaller breeds don’t have the physical capabilities to kill adult humans. Whether it is the owners fault or not, something should be done.
To the fucking brainless morons who say “I have seen lapdogs more agrressive” Get a fucking clue so you can make an argument that actually is not nonsensical! A lap dog does not have jaws like apit bull that will clamp onto it’s victim and not let go until it is beaten senseless. I mean really, some of you are trying to compare the bite of a poodle or Jack Russel to that inflicted by a pit bull?!?! What is your next relevant comparison? Maybe how Rita McNeil looks in a bikini as opposed to Pa,m Anderson? How many news stories have I heard of a pitbull attacking a child out of the blue and the owner saying “I don’t understand it. He was always so gentle”. They are a ticking fucking time bomb and any moron who would own one and let it alone with their kids needs to have their kids taken away from them! I mena really, there are probably 100,000 dog breeds in the world. Do you REALLY need to own a pitbull?
Meaty, i’d leave my pitbull in a ring with a baby, no problem.
bobby33, yep, right on dude. a small dog bite hurts like hell, but a big dog’s bite will break your neck. and these big fuckers usually go for the throat anyway. i’d rather have a cocker or a beagle nip me, than a rotie or dobie tho.
like i said, i love dogs and have owned and cared for lots of breeds. but the worst offender, believe it or not, is the shih tzu, and pomeranian breeds. they were inbred for a thousand plus years, to be the temple gaurd dogs of old. small, fast and able to bite an ankle to take you down, then they would go for the throat. they can be quite vicios when they need be. plus quite yappy. the next breed is the sheltie, used for herding and gauding sheep, they were trained and bred to attack and possibly kill wolves and other preditors. then you have the specialty breeds, like the rottie, shepard, dobie, and of course bull terriers, they were bred and inbred to be attack and kill canines. check all this shit out people, you have the fucking internet. and by the way, there really is no safe dog, or cat, for that matter. they can all get fucking crazy sometimes.
I agree with the folks out there who believe the owners are the main issue but the breed is still enough of an issue (fact) that something should be done..certain breeds should require licenses or something …or there must be something else instead of or even in addition to that as well that can maybe be done…just because one joe frickin schmoe owned a pit bull and never got bit doesnt mean there is nothing wrong with the breed…statistically certain breeds are more of a problem …its that effin simple…if you own a statistically more dangerous breed of dog you should have more restrictions and guidelines and such to put up with to help weed out some of the worthless tools who own those dogs…
https://pawsandlearn.org/Pit_Bull_Myths.ht…
Clearly, pit bull owners are insensitive to the danger the breed poses to other animals and to children, and are either SETs who’ve deluded themselves that they’re capable of keeping them under control or low-life chavs who don’t give a shit as long as they look badass.
Pit bulls are inherently dangerous: they have been bred for centuries to fight, and have jaws that clamp down on opponents/victims with a level of force that rivals that of a car’s weight on a human; and, whenever possible, they will go for the throat. Smaller lap dogs may bite more frequently, but they are incapable of the kinds of lethal damage a pit bull’s bite can cause.
The traffic in pit bulls needs to stop; I say make illegal to sell, buy, adopt or offer pit bulls for adoption; grandfather in the existing dogs but require licensing and constant restraint; they should not be permitted off-leash or out-of-muzzle at any time. Any pit bull found off-leash and out-of-muzzle without a license should be seized and put down; no notification, no appeal. All pit bulls, except for those held by licensed and qualified breeders, should be made to be spayed or neutered.
Yes, bad owners are the problem. However, it’s primarily bad owners (and bad people) choosing these dogs for pets. Eliminate the supply or price it out of the range of normal mortals, you may see the issue diminish.
Banning a breed is ridiculous. I understand that some breeds are more dangerous than others, but where do you draw the line? At which breed? What about the loving pet pitbull of 13 years without incident, to the psychotic golden retriever that mangles cats? It’s not a black and white issue and to pretend that it is is very ignorant.
“THIS WAS NOT ME BEFORE THE VENOM FLIES.”
You still seem to support it you fuckwad, so as far as I’m concerned it was you.
Hey Halkell, look at my avatar. See that? Thats pure hatred, anger and agression, you can tell by the huge smile on his face.
http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/p…
Halkell, ban pitbulls and the douchebags that raise aggressive dangerous dogs on purpose will move onto other breeds and still have dangerous dogs in the end. Meanwhile you demonize all the responsible pitbull owners. All the pitbulls I’ve met were friendly and very disciplined/easy to control. Then again, I don’t hang out with crack dealers that mistreat and ruin their dogs.
I guess we should ban kinds of cars that are often used by drunk drivers. I’m sure that will fix the problem.

MAKE MINE WHIPPETS!
Pitbulls are already banned in Lachine, my “burrough” in south-west Montreal. It doesn’t seem to matter. The other day, walking my whippets along the Lakeshore, I passed a guy and his wife (carrying a baby) who had a pair of pitbulls off-leash which is also illegal. I suppose I could have called the cops on my cellphone but he looked to be the type of guy who would “settle accounts” later on. He was probably someone from the projects in eastern Lachine. Don’t ask.
Ordinarily the whippets can be quite vocal, particularly when they see smaller breeds which they seem to mistake for rabbits, but they passed by the pitbulls and never said a word. I never said a word either.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
Sodeypop, the douchebag owners may well move on to other breeds of dogs, but they’ll have to work harder at making them aggressive. In the meantime, the ban on pit bulls will, we hope, reduce their numbers sufficiently for reputable breeders to establish and reinforce better standards for temperament within the breed, much like what happened with English bulldogs a century ago.
Again, bad owners are a problem, but the breed itself requires very strict supervision and/or restriction because it is inherently a fighting dog with a physiology that supports that purpose, and a temperament that can be unpredictable, particularly if triggered by other animals and/or children. To me, a truly responsible owner would have their dog muzzled when out in public and have them out as little as necessary.
I read about this schizophrenic guy that chopped off another guys head on a bus, and there was this other guy that beat some gay activist guy to death for trying to stop a fight. I say we ban schizophrenics, or at least put them in straight jackets while they are in public to appease the unpredictability factor. Sounds like a pretty stupid way to handle a problem doesn’t it, Halkell. I guess when you paint all members of a certain group with the same brush, you end up looking like an ass.
Not an outright ban on schizophrenics, HarperDevil. Just selective breeding >; ) Eugenics, in other words. *sarcasm alert* There are certain feminazis who honestly believe that for the earth to survive, males need to be “reduced” to 10% of the general populace. Few of them are honest or psychotic enough to spell out exactly how this is to happen. The ones that are tend to be found in the exalted halls of academia. Some ideas are so ridiculous that only the intelligentsia give them any credence. Most so-called “ordinary people” recognize utter rot when they hear it.
i know several dogs that people would point at and shriek “it’s a pit bull!!” no that’s an american staff, that’s a mastiff/lab mix and that’s a bulldog cross. they have the softest mouths of any dog i’ve met, a bird dog bite, if you like. commander, i love when people say “the world would be a much better place if women ran it” hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Just got through reading this, Painey:
http://amongthetruthers.com/wp-content/upl…
Really interesting. He deals more with the historic intellectual and social factors that motivate conspiracy theorists and the ease with which rational skepticism can cross the line into true zaniness. Definitely recommended.
Are you suggesting that pit bulls, a breed currently genetically predisposed to attack, are merely mentally ill and misunderstood, and that they should be welcomed, unhindered by safety concerns, into our midst? The examples you gave are of two extraordinary cases caused by utter failures in human judgment. Failures in human judgment, added to the behavior of a breed in which docile and stable specimens are an exception cause more numerous tragedies.
Is it really worth your efforts, Stevie, to be looked at as a possible harbinger of pain and misery as you walk down the street straining to keep your dog under control? Do you not see the nervousness in some of the faces of those you pass by? Do families or other dog owners, even occasionally, pack up and leave when you and your dog arrive at a park? Do friends decline invitations over to your place? Do you even bother inviting anyone over anymore.
Ask yourself, Stevie, why you chose to own a pit bull over the hundreds of other breeds, some with similar builds but far better temperaments. Is it that you like the idea of being more “intimidating”, or is it a desire to “rehabilitate” the breed in the minds of the public? You may well be succeeding at the one, but putting pit bulls “out there” when the real solutions may require the opposite does nothing for the other.
I’m done with this argument, I really am. My experience has been that no pit bull owner, “responsible” or otherwise, really wants to demonstrate goodwill with their community or to correct the image of the pit bull as a weapon on a leash: they’re not muzzled, they’re not on choke-chains, they’re not made to stay at heel. I don’t know what “responsible” pit bull owners do differently apart from claiming that they are. So, we are just going to have to agree to disagree.
Mental Note: Operation Hermitage -Phase 3. Dress cat up to resemble canine attack breed . Make irritating in-laws sign waiver absolving me of all responsibility should they insist on visiting.
Prospect of success – Exxxxxxxccccellllent!
I got him to protect my meth lab in the basement. No, I don’t invite people over anymore, more out of the embarrassment over losing my teeth to meth use. I often cover him in chains with spikes walk with a limp, and have developed a giant twitch so I’m not sure wether families run screaming from those things or my dog. Either way, a harbinger of pain and misery I am.
You fucking twatbag, I suppose I got my yellow lab to lure children into my rape van too didn’t I?
My dog Blue, is a Chow/Husky mix (both Alpha breeds). He’s got the best disposition of any dog I’ve ever owned. He’s never attacked anybody or anything. I can take a piece of bloddy meat out of his mouth, and he’ll ask nicely to get it back.
Why? Because I’m a responsible pet owner, and trained him properly.
Ruger, the dog who “owns” the country lane my Mom & Dad live on, is a Malemute/Alsatian mix. The only “alpha” behaviour I’ve seen from him is nudging your hand with his head when you stop patting him. He insists on escorting my Mom on her morning walks and then hides behind her (all 80 lbs of her) when another dog is met. Again, this is only a single anecdotal example but the jury finds in favour of good ownership.
why has no one mentioned the poor chickens you want to feed to the dogs.
Anyway personally and I think most people will agree with me but you are a complete moron. It does not matter what breed the dog is, any dog can attack at any moment. It is in how the dog was raised and trained. I have a sheppard bull mastiff mix who is the biggest chicken shit ever. I’m pretty sure she also has some pit bull in her. At halloween she was so scared of a pumpkin that she pissed herself when it was placed to close to her. She has been left alone with children many times and never done anything wrong.
Perhaps we should ban you from breeding as well as everyone else who agrees with you because clearly your children will be awful people who enjoy whipping out other breeds or maybe even races.
You are no better then Hitler himself. If anything you are worse considering we live in a more educated and open society

Angry office monkey-
“While it is mostly the owner not the breed. Dogs bred for fighting (Dobermans, mastiffs, pit-bulls, rottweilers etc) are FAR more likely to snap and go back to base instinct before say, a Retriever or Sheppard.”
Doberman- Bred as a guard dog
Mastiff- Many different breeds bred for many different purposes. Mainly as farm dogs, protection animals and to serve with soldiers at wartime.
Pit- bull- Originally bred as an all around farm dog and for the cruel sport of bull-baiting. Later used as fighting dogs.
Rottweiler- Bred as a dog to herd sheep and cattle, as well as to pull carts. Rottweilers ARE a shepHerd.
You try to make your argument sound educated, but it certainly comes out of a place of fear and prejudice, not education.
There is a pretty good chance when someone starts going on about a pitbull the dog isn’t actually a pitbull.
Take this quiz:
http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/fi…
My dog got attacked by a golden last week, you don’t hear me ranting on about all goldens being vicious. Individual dogs+ individual temperaments+ owners= How your dog behaves. Love to know how “injured”your dog was. If your small dog was actually attacked, it would be dead in seconds from a powerful dog. I suggest some research on dog behavior. 🙂
How do you know for a fact it was a pit bull?
My dog looks like a Pit but isn’t. Doesn’t have a drop of Pit in her.
I frequent dog parks with my pooch, and most of the time the friendliest, most well behaved dogs there are Pits. I’ve met my fair share of idiot labs, spaniels and whatever else kind of dogs with NO manners…just all around pain in the ass dogs. I’ve been jumped on by dogs that appear to not have much in the way of training. I’ve had my dog harassed by poorly trained dogs. My pup comes when called, sits on command and doesn’t pester the shit out of other people or dogs. My dog has been trained and socialized. Sounds like the one you encountered has not.
I am sorry your pup got attacked. But, dogs are dogs and much like people not all dogs are going to get along.
So, don’t hate the breed. The fad these days is to shit on the Pits. If you take a good look at what the media has thrown in our faces you will realize these sweet dogs we keep hearing about are the result of craptastic handlers. What you described could very easily have happened, and likely has happened, involving a Lab or any other kind of dog. In fact my dog was bitten yesterday by what appeared to be a Pomeranian.
I saw a post on Facebook not too long ago that read:
“In the 70s they blamed the Dobermans. In the 80s they blamed the German Shepherds. In the 90s they blamed the Rottweiler. Now they blame the pitbulls. When are they going to blame the humans?”.
Blame the people who handle the dog, not the dog itself. If this had been a Husky that did this to your dog would you be this upset?
Like with any breed of dog not all members of a breed category act alike. They, like humans, have their own distinct personalities. My dog has a presence about her, but is the biggest chicken shit you’ll ever meet. It is unfair to paint all members of one breed category with the same brush.
Pits were originally bred to be working dogs. They were not, and are not, intended to be your snuggely lap dog. they are high energy. They demand time and attention from knowledgeable handlers. That is not to say they can’t make great pets. They can, and do. They just need sound handlers and plenty of exercise.
On the temperament scales Pits consistently score higher than other dogs, scoring 82% or higher, compared to only 77% of the general dog population.
And for anyone out there who thing Pits can lock their jaw…there are many studies out there that have shown this is not the case. They jaw and skull structure are like other dogs, there has been no evidence of a locking mechanism in their jaws.
Anyway, Pits are among some of the most amazing dogs I’ve met. I wouldn’t hesitate to give one a home in the future.
I owned a ‘pitbull’ when I was grade school aged. The only pain that dog inflicted on anyone was from his excited tail whacking the hell out of your knees when he saw you.
I trained him to be gentle and playfull, but respectful and obedient, and that’s the dog I had. He was loyal to me to a fault, protected a few chickens we had briefly, and was super sweet with the neighbourhood kids.
Just like with humans, the way a dog is raised/trained/treated dictates how they will behave in any given situation. It makes as much sense to ban Danish people as it makes to ban a breed of dog.
(no offense meant to Danish people!)
I dunno about them Danes. Oh sure, on the surface, it’s all Little Mermaids, and Lego, and Carlsberg, and thought-provoking cartoonists and flaxen-haired Valkyries who take off their clothes. But who knows what dark and devious motives lurk beneath. Do you really think they’re going to stop with just ONE of our Actic Islands?
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA KITTEH PARK FTW.
