I didn’t perm my hair to blend in with white people. How the fuck is straight hair supposed to make me “blend in” anyway, you think the straight hair somehow makes my skin lighter? I’m not a “self-hating black girl” because I like my hair straight. That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.
You are so dramatic when it comes to black vs. white racial issues that you create them even when they don’t exist. You act like black and white are the ONLY races. Do all people who dye their hair black want to be Asian? Do people who go to tanning booths want to be Latino? NO!

I have white hair growing in and I have it coloured black/dark brown to match the hair of my youth… what does that make me? I also use mascara, and like how lip gloss makes my lips shiny. and ARGH it makes me mad when people say I look pretty! Damn them!

I have naturally curly hair and I got bad advice one time at a salon to get a perm. They knew how curly my hair was and they used the smallest thing for really tight curls. I had an afro. I had to chop my hair all off because it was unmanageable.
Now I straighten my hair because its so much easier to work with. Its too the point that when I came into work last week with my hair down and curly, not straight, the kids (I do lunch and after school care) went crazy! They kept asking me why I curled my hair. They were surprised to find out that its naturally that way, thats how much I straighten it.
Anyway, its your hair, your body. If you want to shave your head and dye your scalp pink, go for it and fuck everyone else.
Honestly OP, just ignore them. I watched a documentary on black children who had self-esteem issues because of their skin and hair, in the face of the ‘white’ image of beauty. It made me sick to my stomach and people really need to mind their own fucking business about what it means to be beautiful. You are beautiful OP, and don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
