This Bitch is for the morons who will sit in line on Thursday night for 30 minutes, cars idling, because they fear the price of gas will be going up 3 cents at midnite. GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!! Ok, granted I am not a mathemetician. But I did some calculations last Friday (GASPPPPP Yes!! After the huge increase the night before!!). My car was nearly bone dry. The price on Thursday ( I am rounding off for argument’s sake) was .97 cents per litre. My car took 50 liters of gas on Friday at the new price of 1.00/litre. That’s right people. Had I sat in line for a half hour the night before (car idling) I would have “saved” $1.50!! I have seen these idiots do this when the price was only going up a penny the next day.
Again..get a GRIP people.

  1. if it means so little, I’ll come get it from you. almost enough for a coffee at Second Cup.

  2. That’s like people who camp outside all night in order to see Harry Potter first. Really? You couldn’t just see it the next day? Time is money people, especially when it involves beauty sleep.

  3. I am not saying that $1.50 does not mean anything to me. However if you are going to sit there for a half hour with yoru car idling on buck a litre gas, have you really saved anything?!?

  4. a $1.50 worth of gas will get my vehicle to ralphs place and back on friday. Well worth the wait at the pumps on thursday

  5. Nayer- I could care less. Think about it. $1.50 was what I would have saved with my tank bone dry. So, unless you are driving a big 4 wheel Drive, you are probably saving anywhere from .25 cents to 1.00 on most Thursday nights. I find it ironic that the tree huggers are not all over the fact that people will let their cars idle for a half hour to save a buck on gas.

  6. Reminds me of that credit card commercial. “So what did you get, like (a measley) $1.50 cash back? Yeah. What did you get?” (nuthin)

  7. haha, i totally agree kay. and to the OP, some people shut their cars off in between, although maybe the starting and stopping operation burns more gas, who knows…I don’t. I’ve never sat in a line like that personally, even though I could always use an extra buck fifty. if it was a HUGE jump in price, and my car was bone dry, maybe I’d consider it. I don’t normally let my car get under a 1/4 of a tank, I’ve heard it’s not good for engine over and over again.

  8. Agreed, what a waste of time. Buy gas at Sobeys and get 3.5 cents off every time and any time without waiting.

  9. justsaying:
Any more than 10 seconds of expected idle period and you are better off turning it off, in terms of saving energy, not in terms of saving the starter.

Letting the tank go too low (empty) is only bad for the motor if you have water in the tank and you don’t actually “hurt” the motor by running on water, it just fucks up until it can dry out.

Water can accumulate in your tank if you frequently have it almost empty as this increases the chances of condensation under certain conditions.

  10. thanks for clearing that up smee. Wasn’t sure about the empty tank thing. At any rate, I definitely plan on keeping up with the “not less than 1/4 tank” thing, as it’s also a good way to make sure you are never caught out of gas. And regarding the idling, I’m also one to shut it off if I know I have to stop for very long.

  11. It’s not about saving the 1.50$. It’s about the last chance to see the numbers on the pump for litres go up faster than the number for $. Just one more little thing to get depressed about. This could be the last time.

  12. I wonder what the “weight of gas to cart around” to “gas burning by total weight” ratio really is for my car… that’s right people, while you’re busy enjoying the sunshine, I’m thinking of these things.

damn it… now I’m going to have to figure it out.

  13. *Sighhhhh* Sadly it went up 2.2 cents again at midnite lats night. I could have saved around 90 cents
