In response to the letter carrier…
“…last year, our first year in the red, 7,402 performance bonuses were still paid out, so we can’t be doing too badly.”
That statement for me sums up what is wrong with CP, and the Public Service in general. Even when they fail financially, they still expect no impact to them..the tax payer is expected to sure up their pension plans,or provide additional funds for performance pay.
In the private sector when a business performs badly or the market goes down people loss jobs or asked to take pay cut, or pensions are impacted. Why can’t public servatns and their livelihoods be put at risk just like everyone else? Why do tax payers at any costs have to shelter them from the risks?

If a “public service” can be withheld from the “public” on the whim of a union vote, it has long since ceased to be a “public” service, no matter how much the “public” have to pay for it.

When I saw former Slug, Dave Wilson, on TV last night criticizing the new government, I thought that as a member of a soundly fucked over party you’d still be under the rock you were forced to crawl back under.

See Bank Bailouts and CEO bonuses, that even when their company performs horribly, they still get the bonus. Paid by the tax payers after the CRISIS. Then gamble the same money over and over again. Noone goes to jail, everyone collects 200$
Google Canadas secret bailout, because we did it too. We gave our banks liquidity too, with tax payers money. People need jobs, and the public service , provides a service, its not a for profit organization. You expect the military, police, hospitals, to turn a profit too?
Get rid of free health care, cause it doesnt make a profit, right?
Lets just stop fixing roads while were at it, cause theres no profit in it
