So, I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost a year now, and everything is great between us except one thing. His ex girlfriend will not leave us alone. She blatantly lies and tries to get us to pay attention to her. She’s one of those girls that you see on the streets at 2AM wearing nothing but a pair of stilettos and a coach clutch. She’s the type of girl that I hate. And her obsession with us is driving me insane. We’ve already had to call the cops on her to get her away from us. I’ve been nothing but nice to her and politely told her that she has to get over it. Nothing is working. —Get On With Your Life

  1. Well only skanks wear Coach so…. what are you saying here Donk? jkjk, I too think it’s dumb to assume something about someone just because of what they’re wearing/carrying. Unless it’s like.. a swastika or something. Also, sometimes these things are not one-sided OP, especially if it’s gone on for a whole year. Maybe he’s just being polite and keeping in contact with her and giving her false hope? But I would agree with Bro Tim. I have had someone try to contact me when it was unwanted and I went to the police and they put a stop to it. As long as you AND your bf have asked her to leave you alone, you can go to the police and they can contact her and tell her to leave you alone and if she contacts you in any way after that, you can then file harassment charges.

  2. Mmm Coach!

I’m purchasing my first bag either in Toronto next week at their flagship store on Bloor (i.e.: they have the really high end stuff there), or when I get back in July! I’m leaning towards one of their more classic brown leather ones for my first one. The fabric ones get dirty too easily and leather will just look better with age (and you can use leather cleaner on them). I can’t wait! 🙂

  3. ♫Gucci Gucci Louis Louis Fendi Fendi Prada, basic b****es wear that s*** so I don’t even bother!♫

  4. I’m with Avast…
you know how I feel about this…
    but I <3 Gucci
    *hangs head in shame*

  5. I really don’t care about all those brands; I’m no hipster beatnik but I hate flash and prefer to spend in proprtion to my income. Nothing wrong with a Banana Republic purse for $200! Why anyone not making a few hundred thousand a year would spend $2000 on a purse, I really don’t get. It seems a bit desperate, but then that’s just me. I’d rather go live somewhere tropical for 3 months (which I once did) without having to work, than spend it on a purse. the memories last a lifetime, unlike a purse……even a *Coach!* purse.

  6. To be fair, Z, Coach (and most others) do make some non flashy bags. I bought myself a really sweet little leather clutch and immediately took the little Coach tag off.
I *hate* bags (or anything really) that have labels screaming “look at me, I’ve got brand name!” all over them. I also really dislike the fabric Coach stuff…looks like big, over priced, tacky make up bags to me. Blech.

About the actual bitch though- dude, if you’ve been together that long and she’s still coming around? You don’t think there might be a reason…in my experience if that’s happening there’s more communication between ex’s than the current is aware of…

  7. wait i have a coach wallet…………does that mean I’m carrying skank-bait????

  8. FYI, Z: most coach bags are under 500. The one I’ve been looking at is around $400.

    Farrrrr below 2k 😛

    now a Fendi bag… 2K definitely 🙂

Cannatell: I like bags. I especially like bags of high quality. I’m willing to pay for the quality. Sure I can get a knock off at bentley or wherever, but the last bag I bought at Reitmans fell apart within a month. Meanwhile, my lulu bags are still going strong and absolutely flawless, and I know for a fact that if I were to have a problem with them, even without a reciept I could take it in and have it replaced. I DOUBT reitmans would do that for me. 😉 A girl in my office had a problem with the snap on her lulu bag and they replaced it without a receipt a year after she bought it. Same with her lulu pants. She got a new pair because hers got a hole in them.

I’m sure coach would do the same.

Apple does it too — I have a crack on the top where the keyboard meets the outter edge and I called the apple store and they said to just bring it in and they’ll put a new case on it for free under their quality control policy.

Sometimes, it really DOES pay to spend a little more. I want a leather coach bag in a classic design because I know I won’t have to replace it. I don’t give two shits what anyone thinks about me and the brands i wear — I don’t buy clothing with logos on it like t shirts and stuff, but I will put down the extra cash for quality stuff. I find it really is true: you often get what you pay for. And hay, the gay husband got a hole in his gap jeans he bought last summer, brought them in the other day and got a new pair free. I doubt walmart’d do that. LOLZ.

Also: I like Gucci suits and shoes on the menz. NOTHING is hotter than Prada or Gucci on a man. Mmm.

  9. do they take Visa?……………………… Visa says they are everywhere i want to be…….

  10. PK I’m confused. Right there with you on the high quality bags. Bags, shoes and jackets. You get what you pay for. Did you miss the part where I said I had one?
I just don’t like the Coach stuff that’s fabric and has all the “coach” or “c” all over it. And I don’t like leaving the additional tags on what I do buy.
Little touchy, or did I misread your reply the way you seem to have misread mine?

  11. Funny what you say about Lulu PK, because i’ve had 4 pairs of lulu yoga pants over the last few years and they ALL faded and balled within 6 or 8 months. That’s with me washing them in a cold gentle and hanging them to dry, and they weren’t knock-offs. It’s not like I lived in them or anything. Very dissapointing. I’ve since started buying the Gap ones and they really don’t fare any worse; in fact they might fade but they don’t ball.
Sadly I don’t think that you get what you pay for in many, many instances; do I have to buy cashmere from Chanel for it not to ball up if I so much as look at it sidways? Because I would think that spending $280 as I did for a cashmere cardigan from Jcrew would indicate a decent quality cashmere. I have bought from different shops over the years: Club Monaco, Banana Republic, aritzia…and never once did any of them last out the year looking new.

  12. Z: Maybe there’s something wrong with you? lol The Lulus I own haven’t done what you’ve said … pilling is usually because of what you wash them with or sometimes the detergent. You can’t wash synthetics with cottons or blends over a certain percent, friction is not your friend. Yes, even that tiny pair of cotton underwear of socks in your gentle wash can cause that. Use a garment bag or turn them inside out like ma does … and wash by hand.

    … why’d you let that happen to 4 pairs … …. …? …?

Also, BR, Old Navy and The Gap are all under the same umbrella company so I only shop at BR for structured pieces where tailoring is really necessary. Otherwise the mid market Gap stuff is fine and lasts quite long. I do agree with you though about the Gap Body Fit stuff. I’ve recently gone off Lulu mainly because the price they charge is just exorbitant … plus all kinds of basic bitches have been hitting up that spot.

Club Monaco is way overpriced, stay away!

It is better to spend money on things that hold their value, i.e leather good like shoes belts handbags or jewellery. Other stuff like clothing devalues as soon as you buy it so what’s the point really (unless of course we’re talking designer dresses here) everything else is perfect at the mid market range, why go any higher, save for a few special wardrobe staples.

Cannatell: I think pk was agreeing … and just elaborating a bit?

  13. Uhmmm..so she is one of those skanks you see at 2 a.m wearing nothing on the side of the street, yet your bf used to date her. What does that say about your boyfriend? Or better yet even, what does that say about YOU?!?!

  14. Cannatell: you said you had a coach clutch but took the label off. 🙂

” I bought myself a really sweet little leather clutch and immediately took the little Coach tag off.”

I was really just sayin’ that not all of us buy coach and prada and lulu, etc… just to be flashy — I buy it for the quality and I don’t care who sees what I’m carrying. Nothing personal, but taking the tag off of something just because it’s a certain brand is kind of as annoying as the people who buy things just because they want to flash the tag around. Who cares what you’re carrying as long as you’re happy with it? To me, happiness is paying a bit more at the time for something I won’t have to replace. I’ll have that bag for years upon years instead of having to replace a cheaper one. That’s gotta work out to being cheaper in the end. For instance, too, i bought my mac in 2008 and it’s still as fast as when I got it and runs great. Apple is giving me a new case because of a manufacturers defect under their quality control policy and I’ll have that thing for another few years so divide the cost by 5 years, for instance… cheaper than what I paid for other computers I had.

All I’m saying is some of us buy brands because they make good stuff, not to be flashy and that there’s nothing wrong with keeping the label on the bag 🙂

Also just to add on your fabric part — I have a theory that people buy the fabric coach bags because they’re cheaper and want to be all “ooh i have a coach bag” and actually be flashy. if you were really in it for the quality you’d spring for the leather 😛
