I knew it all along, but in denial, I focussed on you
I did not want to face the truth that you were seeing someone else
and seeing them much more often
telling me you were too busy with school
the biggest excuse I sympathized with
and yet now I know that was only part of the truth
prolonging something that felt like more than friendship
you cannot claim you do not agree with polyamory and string two much
younger girls along
and you were trying to be loving to everyone , yes
but that hurts more than telling the full truth
after I am done this, I will invest no more time
unless there is friendship that has lasted, but I feel like you wouldn’t have time for that
It would not fulfill your personal needs
you may have cared for me, but not enough to see what you were doing
so somehow let me know if we can draw each other again
or ill be seeing you only as another plaid-shirted musician playing in a band
I will still be enjoying the show, but feeling so much more alive
focussing on music, I will practice guitar on my own
letting it all go

  1. Dear, you get one every month. Please use them.

Polyamoury: A practice in which females engage when they are too desperate to find a man of their own.

Polyamoury: A practice in which males engage when they realize women are to desperate to find a man of their own.

Polyamoury: A day in the life of a (single) gay man.

  2. FOCUSSING ON MUSIC

“telling me you are to busy with school” not a groupie but a fan

What was he taking? Philosophy? At what level? Is he writing a thesis? What’s the title? Write back soon.

    A pleasure as always

    Cheerio!

  3. for god’s sake op, you go through that whole saccharine angst-y rant then at the end you still try to wheedle contact with him.

uck, blech, have you no pride?

as the froggy said – no wonder. no wonder.

  4. OB, you’ve been played! *sorry, couldn’t resist the opportunity for a pun*
Seriously, though, as Dan Savage would say, DTMFA was the right thing to do!

  5. Oh polyamory? He thought you said polyunsaturates. He’s fine with polyamory. A musician who plays the field is unheard of I realize OP but you will have to accept it and move on. Besides, behind that plaid shirt and beard there lurks a man who likes shitty beer.

  6. Sorry to sound poly-phobic, but I am not yet convinced that what is claimed to be polyamoury is nothing but yet another justification for stringing a number of people along. People who play the polyamoury card seem to be assholes by a new name.

Playing the field is nothing new (especially for musicians!). It’s not even dishonourable if you are honest about it. If OB wants to have relationships that involve complicated game-playing and endless emotional “processing” well, it’s a free country and he/she can do whatever he/she wants–it’s none of my business. But everyone involved should at least have the guts to be honest about what’s going on, and make decisions based on what IS, rather than what they wish something could be.

Montrealman would say that your time would be better spent studying philosophy. I stand by my standard line that Math is where it’s really at, baby. Girls, get thee to a Math class!

Serious study of anything of consequence is the doorway to everything better than being star-struck by mediocre musicians.

  7. I didn’t even bother reading past the first half of the first line.

    Just, who cares?

Musicians are flakes, and so are their stupid groupies.

Learn a skill and become an adult, you drip.

“Montrealman would say that your time would be better spent studying philosophy. I stand by my standard line that Math is where it’s really at, baby.”

But your claim is incoherent. You cannot derive a value preference – math is where it’s really at as opposed to philosophy – from mathematical principles. In other words mathematics is dumb where values are concerned. Your claim is simply a variant on “scientism,” that unreflective dogmatic ideology which maintains the primacy of science. (I won’t ask what you understand by math, to say nothing of the reasons why you claim that math is really where it’s at since, of course, like science, math is dumb when it comes to reasons.)

    A pleasure as always,

    Cheerio!

  9. *learns ‘Take me to Church’ on guitar*
*gets a million blowjobs from a million idiots*

  10. Why do people fall for the “musician” type all the time? They’re all the same. Half of them are only in shitty bands to trick the weak minded (men or women) to begin with.

In a way, I don’t blame them – if you reward bad behavior with sex…they’re only bearded plaid wearing humans after all.

EDIT: For the record, I know some decent musicians that have good and honest relationships.

  11. Furious,

    Yes. Don’t you?

Besides. This is Halifax. You can close your eyes and point out hipster/beard/musicians and all the idiots chasing them to then come here and bitch about being treated like shit. No shit!
