Walking toward the entrance of a grocery store the other evening my girlfriend and I noticed a black and white cocker spaniel tied up near the entrance. The poor dog was shivering and shaking, and when we approached him/her it was very submissive, almost scared. We gave it a little attention and it perked up and was so gentle and sweet, however still shivering.

We went into the store and about 20 minutes later, we came out to see the dog still there shaking. About 15 minutes later we got a text from a friend who was leaving the store saying the dog was no longer there.

Who the fuck leaves any dog, but especially such a small one, out in the cold for THAT long? With no jacket or anything, too.
What kind of owner would do that to a pet they’re supposed to love? Why don’t we leave you out there for 30 minutes and see how much you love it.

You’re a terrible person who doesn’t deserve such a sweet animal. I’m kicking myself for not taking further action, but I never know how to go about handling these situations. I should have atleast spoke to the customer service desk and perhaps they could announce something over the speakers, but I don’t know…

Anyway, I just want to say I hope that sweet little dog takes a big ol’ steamy wet shit all over your face tonight while you sleep. —Your Dog is Always Welcome Here

  1. I never understood the concept of walking one’s dog to an establishment they’re not allowed to be in…

  2. i see this all the time at the ss on yonge, never sure of the best course of action, other than myob. i think an announcement over the loudspeaker would be good. i know some people that work there and they would be excellent for the assignment. probably be nsfw

  3. if fucking people can’t care for an animal, imagine if they have kids at home.this shit just makes me want to go, and take animal, and stand there til idiot involved comes out. and then chain them up for an hour or so,to see if they fucking like it. goddamn it people, have a heart when it comes to some of these poor fucking pets. if you haven’t the time to take care of said pet, then don’t fucking get one. and the trouble here, is that this dipshit, probably, doesn’t even read the coast. on the off chance they do, don’t let me see you doing this shit.because i have no time for your stupid foolish bullshit, and will wrap you the fuck up in chains, just like that(finger snap).

  4. I don’t own a dog, but really what is the big deal? Don’t dog owners let their dogs out for fresh air? It isn’t that cold out and dogs have fur. There are a lot of dogs that stay outside all the time. 45 minutes is no big deal. You should mind your business.

  5. it’s not like the dog is going to die, seriously.
it probably enjoys being outside. would you rather it be left at home, or locked in the back of a car?

  6. I doubt the dog was ‘enjoying it’
But chances are unless it was really cold, the dog was shaking from fear/anxiety. The dog is tied in a place that it is unfamiliar with & there are all these strange people coming close & or up to it. It cannot flee, it is trapped and knows it.
so really not a good situation for the poor dog, & could cause a dog to bite a stranger that gets too close !

  7. Actually, small dogs CAN infact die from being left out in the cold. They dont come equipped with the body fat of a larger dog. Most small breeds come from warm climates, again, making them not very compatible for cold weather. This is not the dogs fault. If the owner wants a ‘watch dog’ for the store doorfront, he/she should have bought a German Sheppard or a sheep dog.. perhaps then the dog wouldnt be shivering. This is why they make jackets and such for small breeds which the owner, again, is too ignorant to know about. I’m with the poster 100% on this. that is definitely a shame.. and Mind your own business, If Not for You?? Ok, so lets assume you have a child. and you left him / her naked outside of a store because its a place that doesnt want to have dirty loud kids in it..do you think people should mind their own business about that?. No.. wouldn’t happen. fuck off

  8. “Actually, small dogs CAN infact die from being left out in the cold.”

Pretty sure that could use a source.

  9. ?
    uh, why?
anything left out in cold temperatures can die… if it’s cold enough.
I don’t know a single organic piece of matter that doesn’t have a freezing point…

but apparently you’ve come up with one! Do share…
cause you’re about to be rich…

  10. Holy fuck, the dog was outside for a maximum of an hour, and that’s if OB wasn’t exaggerating. I’m sure the dog is loved and well cared for, at least it wasn’t chained to a doghouse in some country ass back yard all winter. If you were a foot tall and were approached by two, 6 ft tall people, I’m sure you’d be a little nervous too, maybe even cower until you become comfortable. For some assclown to see something like that and pass judgement on someone without any information at all, is just plain rude. Mind you’re own business unless you do 5 mins of research for fuck sakes.

  11. I did dog rescue in alberta and I’ve found several dogs frozen in the snow. not even small breeds. Thats’ how i know 🙂 thanks idiot (donairious)

  12. While I agree 100% with Mel’s comment, it’s rarely so cold out that a dog will perish within an hour, this ain’t Ellesmere Island. Could it be that the dog was excited and that’s why it was shaking? I mean you’re approaching it and I assume, talking to it. Cocker Spaniels can be high-strung dogs.

  13. I posted this bitch, so I’ll clear up a few things:

    1. The dog definitely was not shaking out of excitement, I am a dog owner and it’s easy to distinguish between shaking in exitement and shaking out of fear/nervousness. This dog was scared.

    2. To “If Not For You”‘s comment: Yes owners take their dogs outside in the cold, I go for runs with my dogs in the cold all the time, in fact they love the snow. But they’re RUNNING. Just like people go running in the cold, you don’t see them standing in one spot for an hour freezing their ass off. Bit of a difference, I think.

    3. To “Veloce”‘s comment: Would I rather leave the dog at home? Yes absolutely, I would. That’s why I do in fact leave my dogs at home when I make an hour trip ANYWHERE. What a dumb thing to say. You say “leave it at home” as if it’s a bad thing. That’s where this dog belonged. You honestly believe a dog can’t die if it’s left out in the cold for too long? Are you joking? When I was 5 years old my cat ran out the door one day in winter, our neighbour found him a week later frozen to death in her yard.

    4. Paingirl makes a very good point about a dog in that situation possibly being abused or stolen, as well.

    5. Donarious BIG – I’ll give you a source for that statement, it’s called fucking common sense. I’d honestly expect a 3 year old to know that living things can die in the cold.

    6. “Stephen Harper Is The Devil” – You obviously have never (and should never) own a dog. First of all, dogs don’t “cower until they become comfortable”, that doesn’t even make sense.
You really think I passed judgement when I shouldn’t have? What more information did I need? The dog was there for far too long. What defence could this dog’s owner possibly have given to justify leaving a small dog out in such cold weather? Honestly? What excuse or reason would validate an action like that? “Oh, I do it all the time” would be the most likely response, which obviously is not a valid reason whatsoever. Mind my own business? When I see a small dog outside in winter shivering and shaking and obviously extremely uncomfortable, it becomes my business. So don’t get all high and mighty on me asshole, this was probably your fucking dog.

One final point. Just yesterday I walked into that very same store and what did I see? A dog sitting in the ENTRANCE area where they keep their flyers, away from any walking pedestrians, quietly waiting for it’s owners. The dog was inside, out of the way, much warmer than it would be if it was outside, and the dog was amazingly friendly and happy. THIS is how to care for a dog if you’re going to take it somewhere. Hopefully the owner of the Spaniel saw this and took some notes. Kudos to those owners, your dog was beautiful.

  14. thanks for the clarification ma’am, saw a beautiful bernese mountain dog and a boxer, today
