To those people out there who like to sit around the bar long after the staff have turned on the lights and turned off the music. DON’T! Be considerate, all the sorrys and thankyous while you finally head out the door doesn’t make up for it. Leave when it’s obvious. Just because you purchased the beer at last call, which gives you plenty of time to enjoy it, doesn’t mean that the bar owes you any amount of time after closing hours. The staff would surely appreciate it. —I’ve Got Shit To Do

  1. People who work in barns shovel shit. They don’t complain because it’s a part of their job… remember that when it comes time to shovel your customers out the door…

  2. Why couldn’t one of the staff approach these people and say: ‘We close it 5 minutes – suck it back, folks.’? Then you stand back for that 5 minutes and give them the stink eye until they lift their asses.
If they don’t, yell: ‘EVERYONE OUT OF THE POOL!’

  3. TTFN, because drunk cattle don’t listen.
This was BY FAR the worst part of the bouncer job (way back when).

I’m guessing they figure they’re getting kicked out if they listen…
and they’re getting kicked out if they don’t listen…
    so why bother?

I’d like to see a camera or two go around and get the DJ to say, “everyone with their picture taken in here 5 minutes after the lights go on are permanently BANNED”.
threats are all they would understand.

  4. My favourite bar in PEI would have someone stand at the door with free mini pizza slices at closing time. If you wanted one, out the door you went. Empty bar, free food, everyone won.

  5. swampdonkey…
    that’s actually quite a good idea…
it’s a shame most bar owners are the cheapest bastards you could ever meet.
that’d make a lot of people much happier in the long run.

  6. i never could figure out why people still stayed put, after it was very obvious, that the place was about to close. these are the same idiots, who shoot their lips off at the staff about being forced to leave, or even even get all pissed off, that they can’t have one more round. the place has business hours, and if they are sposed to shut down at say 10 p.m., then they by the fuck will shut down at that time.
if i was running someplace, and you gave me any grief, your ass would be in a fucking sling, post haste.

  7. the problem lies in the business model…
generally, it’s about turnover to keep sales up and business running…
getting people in and out quickly…
but for bars, it’s all about keeping them in to buy drinks….
so a business who’s booming, is GOOD at keeping the people in…
until it’s time for them to GTFO… and they don’t wanna.

I can see this as being a good case for not serving alcohol at the movies, etc…

  8. Z, people would stay and spend more just because of ‘free’ pizza, and that place would be deserted in about ten minutes flat. It puts all the drunk people in a good mood too, so there was usually no crankiness in the parking lot.

  9. LS. Dispite your sentencing structure and disabled shift key, your insightful evaluation on most bitches are quite amusing.

I apologize for ragging on you in the past about your grammar. (Now I have resolve my issues with MM if he can come down off his high pedestal to integrate himself with the blue collared slobs like me).

  10. The lights are on, the tables all around you have been wiped, the staff has their coats nearby probably waiting for the manager to finish balancing the cash. They are being nice by letting you stay longer than usual. Don’t over stay your welcome. Get the f**k out!

  11. What’s just as bad are the idiots who congregate in the aisleways having a conversation and not moving to let people through. If you want to talk either find a fucking table or go somewhere where your no blocking everyone. I guess when some people leave their home they also leave their common fucking sense.

  12. It’s funny, you don’t mind taking a dollar tip for each overpriced drink you serve, but, when patrons operate at a comfortable pace to organize and execute an exit they suddenly become an inconvenience. After spending 100 dollars plus in an establishment, you can bet no paying customer is not finishing their drink and won’t be running out of there like the building is on fire. Take your 300 in tips per night and be fucking patient, after all, it was you who overserved them in the first place.

  13. -The servers and tenders don’t make the prices. If you don’t like them find another place to drink, have a house party or show up during happy hours.
-I don’t believe it is a matter of asking the patrons to guzzle their drinks they paid fairly for but to respect the closing hours.
-‘I’ve got shit to do’ sounds like their they are just looking for a bit more consideration on the public’s part. If they go out of their way to apologize for staying so late than they clearly are aware of the establishment’s shutting down.
-There are just some people it is clear that have never worked in the industry.
