Dear higher-authority, I understand when someone gets pulled over for a ticket-able offence, it is what it is, contest it in court or pay the bill! I choose the latter. However! When someone acknowledges their mistake and pays their fine, it should be over with, you don’t need to throw salt in the wound; and you certainly need to just a week later have someone else take a giant-ass piece of sandpaper and go over it. I REALLY appreciate it when the postal service gives me a packing slip to only find out that it wasn’t a package at all, but a simple letter that read “Congrats Mr. X even though you have only ever been pulled over once in many years of SAFE driving, since we got you on so many infractions during this one altercation (even when one of which wasn’t even my fault!) we’re gonna add one more too it. You can either pay us close to $100 or have your licence revoked for six months. Sorry, you vampires can go get your money from someone else. I have a student loan that requires my attention more. —Two Feet and a Heartbeat

  1. “…since we got you on so many infractions during this one altercation…”

Were you masturbating in a school zone with no insurance, plates, right tail light out and a duct-taped exhaust, revving the motor to match the beat of “Never Gonna Give You Up” … AGAIN?
I told you you’d eventually get caught. It was only a matter of time.

  2. the words “We got you on so many infractions during this one altercation” sort of stands out even though you’ve tried to hide it in that sentence there..

Sounds like you did a load of stupid shit and then didn’t read the fine print.

I’ve never had a ticket in my life, not even a parking ticket. So i’ll give you some advice. Don’t do stupid shit. Also ask around HRM about where you can park for free downtown. I’m SO glad i got the low down on the free parking – it’s saved my ass more times than i care to remember.

  3. I’ll betcha you’ve pulled this shit before, OB, you just never got caught.

If it was enough point-loss to revoke your license for six months, then you must’ve really fucked up.

No one’s fault but your own, you fucking SET.

  4. So by paying the original fine you felt you were exempt from the rest of the infractions? One hundred dollars doesn’t seem like that much compared to losing the use of your vehicle for six months. So do yourself a favour and pay your fines because they aren’t going anywhere and your bill will just increase.

  5. sometimes you just gotta bite the bullit o.p., and other times, you gotta make a stand. knowing the difference is the key. i have had trouble with the motor vehicle for years, still do. i just pay my fees, and let it pass by. they, like any part of our wonderful bubment, have the power to fuck up your life for all time. just let it slide.

  6. I have never heard of someone being given the option to “pay up” OR “lose your license for six months”. I thought it was one or the other…or both?

Regardless, They’ll get their $100 come income tax time. Best to get it looked after before it doubles.
