The good news is I know I have cancer. The CT scan was pretty clear and anyone who has ever gone through a serious illness will tell you, not knowing is ten times worse than the diagnosis. The bad news is that they don’t know what specific kind of cancer, which means that they can’t begin treatment because the medschool drop-outs working in the lab have screwed up two biopsies. I understand that the holidays put everyone behind, but it has been over two months and these are people’s lives you are screwing with. Please stop wasting time, put my fucking sample on a fucking slide, shove it under a fucking microscope and do your fucking job already! —The Guy With a Tumor in His Chest

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your diagnosis, OB.

If there ever was a valid bitch, this is it.

Hope treatment comes soon and is effective!

  2. What PK said.

I’d be on the phone daily to my Doctor bugging the shit out of her, if I were in your shoes.
Can you get a second opinion? Who’s your Oncologist ffs? Two botched test, unacceptable.

  3. Sorry to hear you are having to deal with the waiting even after the diagnosis. They are usually fast with treatment once they know what they are dealing with. Hang in there, I know it must be difficult!

  4. OP, this is deplorable … I certainly hope they get it right the next time so you can quickly move on to receive the necessary treatment. Sending good vibes your way.

  5. This is appalling – my heart goes out to you, OP, there’s nothing worse than hanging in limbo – I agree with Hugo – get on the phone to your specialist every fucking day if you have to – this is unacceptable.

  6. Biopsies can often fail, not due to human error but due to the nature of the process. Ideally a biopsy takes tissue only from the suspicious site, but in reality it also takes cells from each tissue it pierces (skin, muscle, etc). Blood can also get into the sample, further invalidating the test. Combine that with the fact biopsies often fail to collect sufficient cells for a diagnosis (perhaps the physician collecting the sample wasn’t aggressive enough, or was overly aggressive, or their technique was not ideal).

Most likely there was something wrong with the biopsy, rather than the individuals in the lab. Either way it is messing with your life and you should keep pressing your primary care physician to have a repeat done if the previous didn’t get the answer.

    Best of luck to you

  7. Wow. Most legitimate bitch I think I’ve read. I hope you get treatment soon and people stop playing games with your life. If you had tons of money I would say go to a private clinic in another country, but of course that financially isn’t an option for alot of people, including me.

  8. tthis just sucks you know. they can put a legoman, holding a canadian, into space, but can’t or won’t cure cancer. this fucking stinks.

  9. Sorry to hear OP. Cancer is a horrible disease and unfortunately it’s spreading like wildfire. I wish you all the best in your treatment and recovery. Think positive!

  10. I’ve had two pretty close co-workers pass on from this disease in the past three months… so I know from their perspective what it was like navigating the maze of cancer care in this country… it blows.

  11. Well, the good news is I’ve had a few relatives who have had cancer and beat it after a rough start as per a diagnosis. So stay strong, OB! Not everyone with cancer has a death sentence! My thoughts are with you, OB, and I’m crossing my fingers and toes for a full recovery. 🙂

  12. For some reason this bitch jogged an old memory.
In this life you’ve only got 2 things to worry about.
your healthy or if your sick.
If your healthy its ok, if your sick, you only have 2 things to worry about. 1 you get better or 2 you die. If you get better no worries & if you die you only have 2 worries, going to Heaven, or to Hell. Supposedly in heaven there’s no worries, but if you go to Hell…you’ll be so busy shaking hands & catching up with all the people you knew & cared for, who’ve passed before you, your not going to have time to worry ~;)

Best of luck on your treatment, its not always a killer anymore.
