it’s a dogs life
I love my 3 small dogs like they are my children. And what really gets me is that when looking for apartments, so many doors get slammed in your face because you mention you have pets. My boyfriend and I have gone to see places dressed like we looking to

I feel for you because I would love to get a dog someday and am not looking forward to the hassle that will surely be involved with finding housing. But at the same time, I was talking to my landlord, checking out dogs being allowed in our apartment, when I was fielding calls from potential subletters who were also dog owners, and he told me that the one time he allowed a dog in which had “excellent” references, it still caused damage. So I guess I am agreeing with you that other people ruin it for you.Honestly though? It was your choice to have dogs. Other people can respect your choice to have dogs but they don’t have to go so far as renting you their space, if they don’t want to (no need for them to be rude though!)
“to the irresponsible dog owners who don’t pick up after your pets, who don’t train them properly, you are a moron who has ruined it for the rest of us.”you got it.The apt I live in had three small kids living in it and I can tell you right now they did more damage to this place than a well mannered small dog would’ve ever. It can be hard to find a place for cats too — I looked at one place JUST after the previous tenants moved out and it was TRASHED, however they wouldn’t take cats. I can guarantee you my cats wouldn’t’ve made even one tenth of that mess. i just looked at the guy and said “so you let pigs live here, but my cats can’t live here?”In the end though, a cat WILL do less damage than a dog. I don’t know anyone with a cat (myself included) who’s cat pisses anywhere else but their litter box and if cats stay in side they won’t get fleas. Clip their claws and there goes your problem with scratching. Cats are also self cleaning and tend not to smell like some dogs can. Just as Mole Rat says, you chose to have dogs *shrug*
Maybe we have been “bitten” before and don’t want to take the chance. I am sick to death of fucktards who drive with their dogs on their laps, carry them into malls, etc. Shut the fuck up and move to the country where you can let them roam, instead of cooping them up in a blasted apartment, you selfish, inconsiderate wanker.
What I love are the fucktards who bring their dogs into grocery stores with them.
No, your dogs are not your children, they did not come screaming out of a human vagina, they are pets, learn to deal with that and you’ll be much happier.
I used to rent out my mother’s flat and twice I was suckered by so-called ‘responsible dog owners’ who left me with stained carpets, chewed doors and smells that took months to get rid of. There is no way I’d accept three dogs and I can’t blame any landlord for saying so. I’d suggest you either rent or buy a house if your ‘children’ mean that much to you. Shudder – people who consider animals their ‘children’ gives me the creeps.
‘No, your dogs are not your children, they did not come screaming out of a human vagina…’ – I fucking lost it laughing over that one, TA – good one, buddy!
i’m only here to please TTFN.
Keep them killer quips coming, TA!
with the responsibility of having a pet comes the understanding that you will ahve to make certain sacrifices for them- simple things like making sure someone gets home to feed them, to bigger ones, like not getting your pick of apartments because some people, quite reasonably, don’t want to take a chance on their property on your say so that your dogs are angels.you chose to have them. you chose to have multiples. and you chose to rent apartments. deal with it.
no no no Fuck You…You did mention why you can not get in an Apartment with a Dog. “…irresponsible dog owners…” A long time ago, before you were born, people have been renting and some of them were dog owners. Many Landlords had many apartments ruined by these mis-behaving canines. Since then, countless new landlords have heard countless horror stories of investments going to the Dogs, because of dogs. Some have even disregarded the stories of extras costs brought on by damage or loss of revenue because some tenants do not like dogs and the associated behaviors, such as barking. Those landlords were made into fools for not heeding good advise.Perhaps you should put your 3 little children up for adoption, or buy a house or better yet, an apartment building and make it dog friendly, or even better yet…Shut the Fuck Up. Owners of these buildings have rights, you know, since the own the building they get to decide.
I’ve said this before, but here I go again:I’m not sure if I have a horseshoe up my ass or what, but I have 70lbs of energetic, silly Rotti/Lab male dog and I’m a renter. When ever we’ve had to look for an apt I’ve had the experiences with rude landlords. They’re not fun, but sort of expected after a few tries. I have a big dog, they don’t know me from Adam and who hasn’t heard horror stories about pet owners (and Rotti’s….soooo scary…). I knew when I rescued him that I’d be renting for a while, and I knew that I may have to live somewhere I didn’t want to so that I could have him with me.All that said- I’ve never had to take a place that was subpar, or ridiculously priced. Do you offer to bring the dogs for a meet and greet? Offer a doggie deposit? If there’s a way to PM on this I can send you a copy of the standard “please let me live in your nice apartment” letter I send to landlords, if you like.
Also, while I don’t understand why people bitch about this matter (part of being a responsible dog owner is anticpating that it *may* be more difficult to rent, if that’s your situation); awesome that you’re not giving them up just because you’ve decided to “move to a new place that doesn’t allow pets”. I hate hate hate when I see that on Kijiji.
Um- someone asked for that dog letter in an email, but I can’t reply to it…sorry!
