So what? The women’s hockey team celebrated with cigars and champagne on the ice…so what? Who are the prudes making a stink about this…they just fucking won a GOLD MEDAL!! Who cares that they celebrated on the ice. Who cares that they had booze and cigars. Jesus H. Christ. Way to fucking ruin a great moment. I don’t see too many people in the stands looking all concerned and shit. Actually, I don’t see people in the stands at all so their celebration was more or less private…gawd… —Get Over It

  1. the rest of them are just sore fucking losers. they should have played the men, then there would have been a whole lot more crying, when the men lost, hahaha, love it.

  2. yea Have theier party man !! Who fuckin cares – really !!!!! Shouldn’t have apologized for anything . Apologize for what ? Winning a gold ? The whiners should put the dicks back in their mouth and shut up .

  3. I have a friend who’s american (and *still* thinks george w. was the best president in history, no joke) who keeps going on about how the big talk in the US is how they’re going to get their medal taken away for “poor sportsmanship” blahblahblah.

    Jealous, much? Frig sakes.

Funny how he never mentioned how the US women’s hockey team stomped all over the Canadian flag in their dressing room…no, THAT wouldn’t be poor sportsmanship, or anything.

Wow, a bunch of athletes drank some beer after they won a major tournament and were pulled out of their dressing room for photo ops and interviews in an EMPTY rink. They outta be stripped of ALL medals they EVER won. Ever!

    Fuck sakes.

I wonder how much of a stink would’ve been put up if this was the men’s team or even the american women’s team?

  4. yep, but i think it was the last olympics when the yanks did that…pk?
i ranted about this all day…the letter’s (except one) in the mop and pail were great

  5. Grace O’Malley , thanks for giving us 1 more great reason not to have spent 2+Billion tax dollars on this farce.
Fuck…2 billion dollars wasted & there’s only 37 million Canadians, & not all of them work & pay any taxes !!!!
Lets be generous & say half of Canadians do (& we know its got to be lower than that)
So that’s almost $115.00 from each of us working Canadians.
I want my damn money back !

  6. Meh, the investment for this games shows. We rose above the bullshit, and we’re giving the world a good go. I’d say the taint of Montreal is gone, at least in the Olympic sense.

  7. Oh, God, I am absolutely horrified by the media’s attempt to tarnish the Women’s Hockey victory by pointing out — GASP!!!! — that “young ladies” DARED celebrate by publically DRINKING BEER!!!! And some of them were (oh, no!!!) under 19!!!!!! SCANDALOUS, I TELL YOU, SCANDALOUS!!!

Oh, oh, oh! WHAT will people think if they see a hockey player drinking a beer???

As if no one in Canada has EVER had a beer or two—possibly even when THEY were underage—NOT EVEN ONCE!!!! And as if THEY would not celebrate if THEY ever accomplished anything CLOSE to winning a gold medal at the Olympics!

Well then. If “the public” wants every iota of the law to be FULLY enforced at all times then perhaps the next team who wins the Stanley Cup should be put on trial if they decide to corrupt our morals by drinking anything stronger than SODA WATER out of that trophy — in full view of the cameras, no less!!!

Oh, and maybe Wayne Gretzky should be prosecuted to the full extent for his WILFULL disregarding of public safety by illegally riding on the back of an SUV carrying a lit torch through the streets of Vancouver. YUP! Clearly, and in full view of millions, he voluntarily broke the law and therefore should be made an example of—maybe 15 years in Federal prison will teach him that traffic safety laws are not to be taken lightly!!!!

I can’t believe the women of Team Canada are being treated this way, after all they achieved!

  8. fizz, I think the pressure (read force) and decision for the women to apologize was out of their hands. Money fuels the games and it’s my guess that the IOC and the sponsors demanded it. Sexism may have had a teeny role, too. 😛
Sorry guys but you’d never be punished for something like this. Insofar as I am aware, most people think it was an awesome celebration moment for the women.

  9. That’s what I want to see, my people celebrating a golden victory with a toast and a stogey.

In France, they’re trying to pass a law making it illegal to shout at your spouse. You can’t make this shit up. This is where we’re heading.

  10. Oh yes, beside the fact that the Americans were wiping their feet on our flag, we spent half the game short-handed. 12 penalties, 14? I forget.
No wonder Hailey, post-game, was close to tears.
I felt close myself after such a gut-wrenching experience. The whole thing seemed stacked against us and we won anyway.

  11. Hockey seems to be a forum of controlled warfare for us. We’re quiet, reserved. the somewhat nerdy nice guy. Asking American’s what they think of us, a little insecure. No more I say!

Let’s create a new world order based solely on hockey. Point your trillions of dollars toward better hockey and drop the puck already.

Yeah, I spent to much time thinking about this but I like hockey and Canadians.

  12. Whoa whoa whoa…hang on here….No-one is mentioning the WORST fact of all, why IS that?

That’s right….they were SMOKING INSIDE A PUBLIC BUILDING!! Where’s the outrage from the usual gang of crusty ole fag-haters on here?!

If you or I lit that cigar…we’d be hit with a $2000 dollar fine, no matter how “deserving” we felt we were of it!!

I also thought it was over the top when they posted all that hot girl on girl action from the dressing room online. Women should soap up their OWN bodies in the shower…. 🙁

  13. Yes paingirl. A friend scanned it with a hand held scanner over a decade ago. That’s why there’s a flaw near the ear when he tried to stitch the pieces together. It was the last thing I ever drew because it was such a pain in the ass.

  14. I was more offended when Alexandre Bilodeau celebrated his gold medal by eating a McDonald’s cheeseburger. That, and all the other athletes promoting McDonald’s. What kind of message is THAT to send to our children?

  15. They were drinking and smoking in a section of the facility where that is not permitted. I hope they don’t get their medals taken away but I also hope this doesn’t inspire jackasses in small community rinks all over the country to get crunk and smoke on ice surfaces (or in dressing rooms where it’s also prohibited).

  16. I’d still fine them… not strip them….
at least it wasn’t akin to Rebagliati back in the day.

underage drinking and smoking indoors both carry fines… so fine them and be done with it.
