What’s with the attitude of the employees of a certain alcohol agency on Agricola? I don’t need judgment. I don’t need your sneers. So what if I’m buying a bottle of gin on a Monday night? If it wasn’t for drinkers like me you shitheads would be out of a job. Just look me in the eye and say have a nice day. —Drunk on Tinker’s Night. So What?

  1. yes, very ‘ambiguous’…

who the fuck are they to judge…
PLENTY of people work odd shifts and perhaps it’s OP’s or someone else who’s in there that day’s ‘weekend’ time.
if the store didn’t have monday customer’s, they wouldn’t be open mondays….

just another twat of a ‘glorified cashier’.
don’t get me wrong, I like some of the people that work in those ‘establishments’…
    but I think they’re just as over-payed.

  2. Perhaps the OP would have gotten normal treatment if they hadn’t already drank half the bottle by the time they got to the counter.

  3. It may sound crazy but I am capable of consuming a responsible amount of alcohol on a week night and not have it interfere with work the next day. I’ve never had a cashier at the ol’ LC give me the stink eye when I went to pick up beer at the beginning of the week. Nothing cures a case of the mondays like a case of beer…

  4. I really don’t see the big deal in buying any amount of alcohol on any given day. There could be millions of reasons for walking into the NSLC on a Monday and purchasing liquor. Heaven forbid someone want a gin and tonic before/after supper. Maybe they spent the day talking about planning a party and was purchasing something that was needed for it while it was in their mind. I find it a little puzzling that employees would target a single person for judgement when they see dozens, if not hundreds of people pass through their establishment in the run of a day (whether it be a Monday or a Saturday…) In fact, I could use a nice cold one or two tonight when I am watching the Habs and Sabres…. but wait- what kind of harassment awaits me at the checkout since I am buying beer on a Wednesday? OP- not entirely sure the jeering was because you were buying a bottle of gin…..

  5. uhoh, i guess i know what i’ll be FORCED to watch…ahem GO HABS, and go leafs(for the boy)

  6. Hahaha paingirl…. I am sure you’re being FORCED to watch the Habs play hockey. Now having to watch the Leafs… that’s an agonizing prospect. And if the Leafs were playing the Bruins? I think I’d rather perish in a firestorm from the bowels of zZz after eating some of his homemade Acadian food.

  7. That location is where the drunks and homeless hang out, so you can be sure plenty of them come in for some real liquor vs. Listerine once in a while.

  8. hey, I don’t make Acadian food… I just eat it.

The perogis are technically polish food..
and freakin good, btw with sweet po’s

  9. If you want friendly NSLC service, go to the NSLC in the Sobeys on Queen Street in Halifax. It’s small, but there’s one guy who works there who is always super over the top friendly and has a short conversation with everyone. I think he must be a Caper. Never seen that guy not smiling, never ever ever, and believe me, I’ve been watching and waiting for it to happen!

  10. That happy guy at Queen street is AWESOME! Never saw someone so happy to be at work serving customers hahaha

  11. twould be the same as buying smokes. the way you get looked at, by sales staff often gives me a laugh. try buying condoms sometime, just watch the looks then.

  12. has anyone else seen the new signs at some jar stores?
they’re great. stick figures spewing, stumbling, swearing

  13. yeah… something tells me I wouldn’t be serving anyone keeled over, throwing up all over the place either.

the sad thing is… you know this had to happen enough to warrant signs….

  14. HA HA….I am thinking there was probably not that many customers in a certain alcohol agency on Agricola buying a bottle of gin on Monday night. Therefore I am thinking these LC employees probably know exactly who the OP is………

If I was the OP I would probably choose to go to a different LC for a little while. Maybe consider being a little more descreet next time. 🙂

  15. that’s zigackly what i was thinking zZz…but whoever designed them did a good job

  16. Those signs are based on things that have happened sadly. People have urinated in stores, puked, started fights, etc.

  17. They get $20 something an hour for an $8 something an hour job – and then have the gall to judge.
They should be kissing the feet of anyone who purchases products from them – if it weren’t for our Nanny State socialist monopolistic haven they’d be a lot worse off.

  18. They do not get 20something per hour! They are paid more than your avg cashier….I would say closer to 14 or 15.

My friend worked there 5 years ago and made 11.50 or something like that, but they don’t usually get full time hours. Most are PT employees.

  19. Like zZz mentioned, many people have different days as their weekends. Some get off in the am, noon…who cares. Years ago while working in a 24/7 plant, we would start having beers right after work on OUR Fri. We would have a few at 8am on a Monday morning…soooo!

  20. Being one of those employees, I highly doubt that you were more than just a blink of the eye to the individual who served you, just another Jane/Joe Customer. Everyone has off days, and if you were sneered at I’m sorry to hear about it but I’m sure it had nothing to do with you. Here’s to hoping your next experience is better!
