I work in the mall, I work in a clothing store, I’m going to ask you if you need any help. I can’t read your minds. I know it’s Christmas and you’re stressed out. Don’t act like such assholes when I ask you if you need any help. It’s my job, I HAVE to ask you. I have to say something along the lines of “hi there, how are you doing, is there anythign i could help you with?”
I’m so sick of getting people who turn their faces towards me, or grumble ” I don’t need anything” at me.
A job is a job, most people would understand this (right?).
I don’t expect a hug or an ethusiastic “GREAT THANKS HOW ARE YOU? HELP ME FIND JEANS”, but I also don’t expect to be treated like I’m some shithead either. I’m not.
To anybody who works in retail , esspecially in the mall during Christmas, this goes out to you.
To all you assholes who think I’m just getting in your way, FUCK YOU!

Jenn,I definitely sympathize! I did retail all throughout university and there’s nothing worse than those assholes that think they’re hot shit because the can afford to buy 10 Gap logo hoddies for everyone on their xmas list. I especially loved saying “Hello” and nicely smiling while looking busy and getting the snarky “I’m just looking!” response. It got to the point where I’d say, “Well, I hope you came into the store intending to look, haha” in a sing-song friendly voice. They’d usually leave!It works- your boss will see you’re being nice and the asshole customer should feel like an ass.
Jenn, I’ve never worked in retail before but of course like everyone else, go shopping once in a while. I thank you for coming up to me and asking how i am doing and wondering if i needed help. Generally i don’t, but i ask for help when i do. Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re awesome. Now, to those working in retail and, unlike Jenn here, completely ignore us when we walk in specially that we’re looking for something specific and have to yell to the end of the store for those morons to get off their asses and actually work, maybe this isn’t the job for you. In fact, customer service is dying in this city. To those morons, you’re ugly, unintelligent, can’t even put 2 centeces together, and think you’re all that, newsflash from reality TV, you’re not all that, in fact no offence to anyone out there, this is only directed to the morons mentioned above, look at where you work, it’s a fucking store with $600 monthly income!
Retail is the absolute worst place to be!!! Go look for a new job outside of the mall, trust me they’re there and once you get one you’ll look back at your old retail self and laugh at how miserable you were!
