I know it’s dishonest, but I pretty regularly dye my hair red. Now, before you judge me, I was born with red hair… but then it all fell out and grew back blonde.
People treat you differently based on your hair colour. Whenever I’m blonde I feel less respected, less funky, less artistic, more stared at. It might all be in my head, but there’s something special about being a ginger that I can’t get enough of. Or, it might just be this city.

Halifax, you are a city filled with sexy gingers. I mean, I’ve been to Ireland, but even they ain’t got nothing on the sheer number of red-haired people to be found in this city! I appreciate you, whether your mop comes from a bottle like mine, or that elusive recessive gene.

Speaking of… clearly it’s a gene I sort of have, so how’s about we get together and make sure the ginger species doesn’t go extinct. —Gables

  1. Oh I hear you! I was born with copper red hair and as I got older it faded to a dark auburn. I’m saddened by this so I lighten it with “light” blonde to bring it back to that natural. Any time I dye my hair blonde – it comes out red again, taking on the natural pigment I was born with. My boyfriend has strawberry blonde hair and his beard is red – maybe we can make ginge babies some day!
