To the slum lord of the apartment building:
NOT ONCE this winter have you cleared the walk in front of your building.
How disrespectful of you to leave this section of sidewalk uncleared which has left myself and may others in the neighborhood, many elderly, to walk on the street around and down a precariously angled hill.

Everyday that I walk by your building I curse you.
I am serious about the bills, If I slip and fall because you are a lazy prick there will be hell to pay …
Clear off your walk ass!

  1. er, we don’t get emergency room medical bills. I remind my American relatives and friends of this constantly, and when I visit, I break out my provincial health card, just to annoy them.

  2. You pay if you get into that ambulance or want a private room! Hey OP, have you ever thought of calling the city and filing a report on this landlord who refuses to clear the sidewalk?

  3. If you break your leg and get admitted to a private room, you are part of the problem. We have too many people taking up beds already, take your broken foot home and let someone who needs the bed have it.

  4. He could still sue for loss of wages and personal suffering…won’t get very much but you may be able to find out the home address…so you can pour hot water all over his front steps…

  5. Ustwess: I have a friend who had a fainting spell at work. HR insisted on calling her an ambulance, even though there were 50 people who could have driven her. They assured her that if there was an ambulance bill, they’d pay it.
There WAS an ambulance bill – they’re privatized – but the company never paif the $135, and she ended up in collections. By the time she found out, she’d moved on to a better job, and the company conveniently “forgot” they ever insisted she take an ambulance…

  6. Gidget– they have to use an Ambulance. That way, if you die, they aren’t liable. Your friend should have gone to the labour board over it– that’s complete bullshit… but they’re gonna get away with it unless it’s in your benefits package.

  7. Call the city, 490-4000, file a complaint, and then march yourself to one of many stores the carry Wintertrax, and buy them. I bought a pair on Thursday, and I can’t believe it took me this long to buy them! Worth every penny. Seriously. A little tricky on tile-y floors though, take em off when you go inside.
