If a customer makes an order through your drive-thru service, and the customer decides to pay with debit, but your debit machine is not working due to technical difficulties… don’t just stand there with that stunned, ditzy look on your face and repeat to your self, “Ummm, what do I do?” It isn’t rocket science that good customer service requires you to APOLOGIZE to the FREQUENT customer and offer them the coffees as a gesture to make up for the inconvenience that the store had caused… Learn some manners, or get a new job! —Annoyed Bystander

Oh Tim, make your swill at home like ….. your glazed bits are overheated enough …. can you not find a twoonie in your ghetto sled somewhere?
Oh, you are a persistent little cuss, aren’t you.
Come weal, come woe you WILL get that free cuppa joe, eventually.
I don’t see why it’s Tims’ fault YOU can’t pay.
Even IF their debit was down.
Seriously, debit at tim hortons is just SAD.
no sympathy, using debit to pay for a lousy cup of coffee? do you not carry any cash at all so you don’t have to toss a few coins to the MS bin or buskers or what? i don’t want to be behind you, anywhere, when the collapse of civilisation comes, you’ll be trying to get scan your debit card at the entrance to the holland tunnel. and blocking it. i was behind a twerp in small grocery store when she tried to pay for a litre of OJ with mastercard. what????
whats wrong with paying for everything with a credit card? I get points off every purchase and free money. My average purchase takes 11 seconds with visa, just as long as it would take to count out change. Just tap your card on the thing and you can leave.
What a sense of entitlement you have, OP – get bent.
as long as you don’t stand there like you’ve been poleaxed when the machines don’t work.
they sound pretty damn green…
if they don’t know what to do when the debit machine is down…
how the hell do you expect them to know you’re a FREQUENT customer?
I’d expect the sorry but giving you the free merch?
pretty sure that’s against policy and one hell of a slippery slope.
Computers go down at times, Technology has its glitches. Living in an instant society, sometimes we can forget our manners when stuff takes longer than its supposed to. It wasn’t the employee’s fault and I’m sure she doesn’t get paid enough to take your huffy ‘tude. Businesses can’t be giving free shit out to everybody every time there’s a problem, they’d go under.
What if this situation happened while you were at the check out of a grocery store with $200 of food in your cart? Would you expect them to just comp it all to you as a way to appease your entitled arse because it “inconvenienced” you? $200 in groceries or a $2 coffee. The price is different but the principle is the same. “Oh. The debit machine is down? But, I don’t have any cash. I guess I get this stuff for free then, right?” Fuck off.
And why in the blue hell does it matter if you are a frequent customer or not? Does this somehow make you more important? Does it somehow entitle you to something more? I think YOU’RE the one who needs the lesson in manners.
Get bent, OB. If it’s a Timmies that you’re talking about, it’s not like there’s a shortage of them in this city. Move on to the next one.
I love how people think it’s so much faster to use a card. It really isn’t as long as the cashier is good at their job. We have to get drive through times at my job and if we get several cards with debit in a row we can kiss our times goodbye, especially if the machine suddenly goes down.
is this a regugitated bitch from the other day. sure sounds like the same one, just different wording.next time, carry some fucking real cash on you, you know, that funny colored paper/plastic shit, that the bank prints out ad nauseum.
What some people won’t do to try and get a free cup of coffee.
so, OB, what if evvvvvvvvveryone was a frequent customer and hypothetically, all pay by debit, again hypothetically, is the cashier supposed to grant FREE merch to evvvvvvvvvvveryone that is supposedly a ‘frequent’ customer? fuck off. have some common sense!
Where I work, if anyone that wasn’t the manager gave customers free food/drinks because the debit machine wasn’t working… they would get in serious shit. Even though it’s annoying, the drive through workers have to ask the people to come in and pay at the counter’s debit (I know this defeats the purpose of a drive though… ) but you can’t expect a cashier who doesn’t know how to fix the problem to have the authority to be giving away free product. Personally, I’d like to make all the customers happy (within reason), but if I had to choose between making a customer happy and keeping my job… I’d probably play by the rules and keep making the big bucks (…not very big bucks).
Just keep a $5.00 timcard on you as insurance. That way you’re covered unless you’re getting the sandwich deal in which case you shouldn’t have your ass in the drive-thru to begin with but that’s another bitch altogether.
lol Troon. I like you.
