  1. Again, I agree with Caballo. The only critter you’ll get unconditional love from is a dog or cat. Bipeds need not apply.

  2. Perhaps, in your embarrassment, you have shied away from this person and given them the impression that you have forgotten them. Have you considered that? Perhaps they gave up not because they wanted to, but because they thought you wanted them to. Set the embarrassment aside and try reaching out.

    Or die alone. Whatever.
