Is it just me, or does it seem as though they are drawn for poetic hippies with an extremely dry sense of humour? Actually, most aren’t even remotely humourous. Maybe The Coast might want to have some kind of comic competition each week?
Tell me people, honestly, how many of you actually look forward to reading the comics? —Polite Bitcherer

I’ve made this comment, as well as plenty of others. But the Coast is too busy implementing their bullshit dating site, and not publishing Savage Love (usually the only good article, and it’s outsourced) in it’s entirety to care.
What do you get left with? A failing free publication that’s trying to stay afloat in the recession by “diversifying” into market’s they have absolutely no experience in, and thinking they can charge for it. There are several dating sites online that are free and have a much larger user base (ok cupid, pof etc.) and not to forget the other massive dating sites that do charge, but are probably tenfolds better than the Coast.
Whatever.
they mostly just suck.
yup
I look forward to the True Life Tales but everything else before an current is crud. It must be really hard to get someone to make 52 strips that are good or something.
I’m just happy they got rid of 10,00 Mouths. I really hated that.
I just think the comics are just trying too hard. They try to be deep, but they just came off as pretentious. True Story is probably the most reliable one, but it’s the most mainstream. I don’t know if it’s a lack of talent, or what, but they’re missing something.
I like True Story.
I wish I could think up something really cool to have immortalized in comic form.
True Story is a great comic. It’s entertaining, and it’s drawn really well.
As for the others….
True Story is good. That other shitty one where she just takes old ads out of Life magazine or whatever and re-draws it like they’re zombies or whatever is dumb.
I miss “A Softer World”
I just shivered at the thought of having to endure another “softer world” strip…
True story is okay but it’s much harder to make up your own funny stories. Has the artist ever published anything that he actually wrote as opposed to edited?
The Coast comics USED to kick ass. Back in the 90’s. Those were the days.
If people think the Coast is failing/fading, check out the Ottawa weekly XPress….piece of garbage, unworthy of the paper it wastes.
I miss the Coast.
I have a copy of the very first issue. I wonder if it’s worth anything?
Maybe I’ll put it up on Ebay.
i miss that comic that was just pictures with types words on the pictures. that one was great. so great that i forget what it’s called.
