I can’t believe what I witnessed the other night! My husband and I were going for a walk, and we noticed someone suspicious across the street from us up ahead. We heard a cat yowling in pain, and as we got closer we saw that this idiot was trying to walk his cat. The cat was cowering at his feet and not moving (maybe because cats aren’t like dogs and don’t like collars and leases?), but this man kept yanking on the leash trying to get it to move. Then he proceeded to lift the cat off the ground by the leash, CHOKING IT, and then SWINGING it farther down the road. Each time he did this the cat yowled in pain and looked even more terrified.

I was about to say something but my husband grabbed my arm and suggested I didn’t, because this guy was pretty big and creepy, and all I could do was shoot him a dirty look.

You coward! You even stopped what you were doing because you know it was horrid when we walked closer to you. How dare you pick on a little cat that is only a fraction of your size? I just wanted to take that poor kitty from you so you couldn’t do that to it anymore!</p?

Oh yeah, I know I’m a coward to for not saying something, and I feel terrible about it. But I don’t really enjoy picking fights with strange men twice my size. —Cat Lover

  1. that is almost as bad as trying to walk a budgie bird. they have their own little minds, and noting, nothing you can do, will change that. i mean fuck now, walking a cat, shit, you might as well try to train a virillion anteater to do his business on a paper. or even a 3 toed sloth would be easier.

  2. oh, i forgot to mention this, when i was very young,i went to see my grandparents from louisianna. up the other side of lafeyette, called pippyville.anyway, some of the kids there have get this, pet crocidiles(?) and aligaters, that they actually walk on a leash. i thought that was the weirdest thing i ever saw. besides the anteater, that is. (lif,he got stung too, did he)

  3. i love pickin fights…then the fight never happens
you were with someone? c’mon ovary up and vocalize

  4. Maybe he was out ‘swinging’ his cat earlier & now his arms were tired .
It sure would be a lot easier to swing the damn thing than it would be to take it for a ‘walk’…or would it be called a tug…a drag ? Yeah , drag it down the sidewalk

  5. Jesus, do these people think its cool to walk a cat on a leash? There’s alot of people in this city who shouldn’t own animals. Look at the street people with the skinny dogs. They shouldn’t be allowed to have em. Ya can’t feed or house yourself but ya think getting a dog and providing it with a life on the street is wise. Beat the shit outta the kitty walker if ya see him for all the animals that suffer at the hands of idiots and bring a can of dog food with ya the next time your on spring garden and give to the assholes with the dogs.

  6. living in halifax…..thats the funniest thing i’ve read all week and ya got a hot bod on ya too. meow

  7. I’ve seen people walking cats on leashes, they don’t normally seem to mind, however hey rarely want to walk in a straight line down the sidewalk, they’re more of a lets stop and wander around in circles type animal. This of course, is a case of that particular animal not wanting to be walked. When I first had my dog, she was afraid of drains, which we didn’t know, but she’d stop dead anytime she was withing 20 feet of one. We had to coax her back into continuing the walk, but it wasn’t a case of dogs not liking being walked.

  8. It’s a REALLY common misconception that cats have to go outside…in fact, almost all literature on cats state that they’re safer inside — especially certain breeds (ragamuffings, for example — they’re too friendly to go outside and will get beat to fuck by other animals). I cringe when I see kitties outside wandering around by themselves 🙁

Keep your fucking cats inside! I wouldn’t DREAM of letting my two kitties outside. I get a panic attack just thinking about it.

  9. KEEP THE CATS OUTSIDE !
    It keeps the rats down.
Keep your chickens in pens or cages..keeps the cats away from them ~:)

  10. A post about cats and not yet ONE CUTE KITTY PICTURE? Jesus Christ, people, well I guess I’m going to have to change that now… aww wook at the kitty!

When I had a cat, I tried taking her out for a walk, too. Being a cat, she didn’t like it one bit (sorry, Princess), and chose to stay inside and get fat instead. Being a guy, I got a bit embarassed trying to walk my cat in public.

Anyway, thread officially hijacked for cute kitty pictures.

  11. I’m with you PK… my cats were always indoor cats and if they went NEAR the door they were threatened with a spray bottle…lol. As far as this guy is concerned…. big or not I would be saying something to him. I mean, if it was a child he was mistreating I am sure something would have been said…. or the police called… animal abuse IS a crime and law enforcement CAN be involved if such a crime is witnessed. This is why I am in such disdain when I think of how easy it is for people to have animals.

  12. I only let our cat outside if it’s out in the countryside and on a leash…
closest he comes to freedom in the city is the hallway….
and even then he’s terrified and runs back inside if anyone opens their door or the elevator opens….

cats are more indoor creatures. better for them, and better for their owners.

  13. the tard twins sometimes escape into the backyard…but they usually just flop down on the grass and roll around…not very hard to catch

  14. I envy all of you cat owners…. I have 3 cats, 2 of them THINK they’re outdoor cats. No, I don’t walk them, I put a leash on them, and let them wander around the back yard. The leash is a precaution in case they run into the neighbors yard, then the leash can be held while one of my room mates fetches it

  15. My grandmother said her kitchen was so big she could swing a dead cat in there. I didn’t realize cat swinging was more than a metaphor. I now wish to put a cat on a leash and test a theory in my grandmothers kitchen.
