I was headed to work and typically I am beyond late for the bus on weekends but on this particular morning I was on time. The bus pulled up, with no one on it, and I stepped up, showed the bus driver my student bus pass and she says, “Student ID please?” to which I respond “I don’t have my wallet with me.” She says “OK, that will be $2.25 then.” When I return with “I don’t have my wallet with me.” She then tells me that I will have to go home and get my student ID and wait for the next bus. I explained to her that this would make me late for work, and that no other bus drivers had ever asked me for it. She replied with “It is not my fault that the other drivers were not doing their jobs correctly, and asking for proper identification.” So, reluctantly I got off the bus. This was at 7am, and she obviously was just being the biggest cunt possible because she was ahead of schedule and had no one on her bus. A simple “Just remember to have it with you next time” would have sufficed. I can guarantee you that I remember your fat face and your slicked back hair and if you fuck with me again…I won’t be getting off your fucking bus. —Not a Morning Person

The bus driver might have told many others to “just remember to have it with you next time,” at some point they need to actually enforce it or people will exploit that.
It sucks that you were late but the driver is only upholding a really simple rule and doesn’t deserve to be called names.
Do they ask for the Student ID when you purchase it?
If they do, then why the redundancy? If it’s paid for it’s paid for, WTF? What does the bus driver care? They still get their paycheque no matter how much money the city loses!

It wasnt a U pass Fire i went to eastern college got a regular pass all year around for like 8 dollars less a month because i went to school year around

I’ve done that with my license because I saw one unruly driver ask the sole middle easterner out of a crowd of 5 getting on for an id and refused them.

OP, you are a total fuckwit. The Metro Transit rider guide clearly states that A VALID STUDENT PHOTO ID MUST BE PRESENTED ALONG WITH STUDENT PASS WHEN BOARDING.
Perhaps the driver was new and was only doing what she was told in training….or maybe she actually does follow the policy. Regardless though, YOU were 100% in the wrong in this situation. She was right to ask you for a photo ID.

You have now learned a lesson in the real world. When you leave home make sure you have everything with you. It’s not that hard. Keep your Student ID and bus pass together and keep it with you. See problem solved. As for staying on the bus in protest or whatever, the cells at HRP are not pleasant. But hey if that’s what you want, they will oblige.
As for the student pass without ID, who is to say the holder is an actual student and that the pass was not stolen, or been found, or *gasp* a student lent it to a friend, therefore passage has not been paid for.
when I went to school oh so many years ago for post secondary, it was from April to January so yeah I had a student pass over the summer. But I also knew I had to have my student card so the two were face to face in the little plastic sleeve Metro Transit provides and showed both when entering the bus.
I must be a brain surgeon to have thought of that!
oh and you don’t need your ID to buy the pass since so many of the darlings have mommy or daddy buy them to save their own money for the booze (but I digress)
If there was any kind of consistency At Metro Transit from our fine management and supervisors, and all were on the same page, then it would not be an issue. Students would all know to have their ID, child and senior passes would be used by children 5 to 15 years and seniors 65 and up and all the passes would be signed so that when you lose it and someone turns it in (yes it does happen) you would get it back. Not signed and turned in (yes that does happen as well) ends up in the shredder. Passes are abused, lent out to friends, family, the neighbours? 85 year old Pakistani gradmother using her grandsons student pass etc. etc. WTF. It never ends. That is why so many bus drivers don’t give a shit any more, no matter what we do we get shit on.

when I lived in Ottawa, you had to have a OC Transpo Photo with your Buss pass…. maybe Halifax should do this.. would save the hassell of having to bring your student ID with you in the summer

I as a blind person have to have my CNIB I.D Card at all times on Metrotransit, on the bus, ferry & Access-a-bus, I carry a long white cane, clearly stating that I’m blind, & I need it to get around, but thats not good enough, I dont honestly mind, its a great rule..
At least its NOT Toronto, you have to carry 2 PASSES at ALL TIMES, you cannot ride TTC for free unless you live IN Toronto, & have to go through hell if you lose the special yearly metropass, you have to wait 30 days or one calender month, till you cna get a new one, in the meantime forking over $3 a ride, no matter is you cant afford it or not..
