I’m not a huge hockey fan, but I am Canadian. I don’t route for one or the other, but I cheer the Leafs. Hockey is a soap opera like any other dramatic production and this latest nonsense is no different. I don’t care if you’re a fan or not, any Canadian can see that this yankee asshole who claims he’s trying to protect the game is precisely the disease that infects the game. He doesn’t even play hockey. How the hell does a guy who doesn’t even play hockey, claim to be its purest ambassador? Up yours Gary, ya phuckin prick. Another indoctrinated left-brain robot from phucking America bullying his way around in places he doesn’t belong like a greedy arrogant reptile. Greed is the issue and that’s what he represents. Ask every paid hockey player in the league and they will all tell you that they would play with the same intensity for half the price. The problem is there’s too much revenue involved and two forks are fighting over one pie. Well phuck that too. Here’s an idea you greedy ruiners of everything decent, make tickets, hot dogs and beer cheaper. Give to a food bank. Support the game at the lower levels with more money and more equipment and more incentives for coaches than the pittance you are dolling out now. There’s nothing wrong with the game, except that it is being hijacked, once again, by the United States of Assholes and their greedy violent addiction to sucking the fun out of anything that’s decent in the world. I don’t know too much about the whole situation but Bettman is just representing the interests of the owners of the league. That’s what commissioners do. If you ask me there are too many teams that don’t make any money, I don’t know how you’re ever going to really get around that. These guys may be billionaires but why should they keep paying their employees millions while their company loses money? Answer me that genius.
I agree that the real loser is the little guy who works in the arena, or a bar or restaurant near it. Hopefully the stadiums can compensate by booking other big events like concerts and whatnot.
And honestly if Canadians weren’t so obsessed with hockey all parties involved would have WAY less leverage, I mean for shit’s sake, would it KILL some of you to watch a football game once in a while, or some basketball?
