I really love it in the morning when there is a huge, neverending line of traffic and no one has the decency to let a car out. Where has courtesy gone? I get it..it’s not a set in stone rule, but it goes a long way – especially at 7:30am at the start of a person’s day. My favourite part, is when the long ass line of traffic comes to a dead stop (more than once) and people have the nerve to just stop dead in front of my driveway so I can’t get out. I see you as you’re talking on your cell phone or just too pissed off to let me out…but maybe once you could think about someone else other than yourself. I can see down the road as there are multiple people trying to get out just to get to work, so help us out! I would do it for you. —I need to get to work too…

op i have the same issue on quinpool. So you know what i did? I stopped taking quinpool. I stick to the back streets, popping out only when i’m near my destination and usually at an intersections with lights. Then i peel off into the sunset yelling “suckerssss” as i blitz away.
Just drive where the people aren’t. It’s a little harder downtown but not impossible.
Time to get one of those big ass Grave Digger monster trucks and start making your own path.
OB is stuck in their driveway, crayons. Your tactics work wonderfully!… but in this instance where OB can’t even leave her driveway, taking alternate routes isn’t an option. Perhaps more driver courtesy would be the best solution for people exiting/entering driveways during heavy traffic.
We had the same problem when we lived on Oxford St. Hub and I used to ridicule and giggle at whatever car would block us off – the driver would stare straight ahead, refusing to acknowledge our car nose on the sidewalk and turn signal flashing. The hilarity would begin when said driver had to sit there more than a minute – they’d be twitching and itching to get the fuck out of there while we pointed at them and laughed.
I have to approach traffic with a certain amount of humour – stressing out over it doesn’t do fuck.
Trick is you just have to keep slowly nudging your way out, eventually someone will stop. You can’t just hang back and wait. I have the same problem where I live on bayers, plus everyone uses the lane in front of the apartment as a shortcut to get to the 102 at afternoon rush hour which sucks when I am just trying to leave to get groceries.
T.T,
Why would you point and laugh at someone who does that when really, the joke is on you? Your the one who’s block in not them :P.
Laughing at them is probably better than stressing out about it. I know what TT is talking about though, sometimes I’ll do that by accident, by the time I realize that I have blocked them in I just play with the radio station, look the other way, pretend I didn’t notice. You know, just like TT said.
Jeff, if you can’t change your circumstances, change your attitude – the joke’s on everyone in this burg. I’ll be 59 on Sunday and, if I’ve learned anything as an adult, it’s that stressing out over the little shit will hurt you more physically and emotionally in the long run. It’s called the big picture – look into it.
Thanx for admitting that, keggie – what you said reminded me of when my cat used to do something I didn’t like (like consume large quantities of spider plant babies), she’d immediately start furiously licking her rump in feline embarrassment. It would always make me laugh.
Quit being a pussy and pull out into traffic. It’s not like they’re breaking the sound barrier, someone will let you in.
I’ve got that problem on Chebucto in the mornings too. Normally less than 5 minutes and someone will stop but I gotta start sticking my ass end out first :p
OMG that’s not just barrington. The rudeness is province wide. I love how they block an intersection knowingly so that no left turning car can actually make the turn while traffic is a complete stand still! It has become increasingly un-enjoyable to ride a motorbike to work these days. Especially on the 102 when people are going 80 in the right lane and 90 riding the left lane. GET OFF THE ROAD IF YOU CAN”T DRIVE!!
Try turning left onto Commercial street in New Minas. The good old Valley hospitality seems to be lacking there.
