has anyone read how a homeless man died while waiting 34 hours in an ER without seeing a doctor? They are actually trying to blame his death on the fact that he was a substance abuser!!
WHAAAAAAT?
I realize he was a substance abuser but do you not think that waiting 34 hours in an emergency room for something that serious may have killed him? This article is appalling. —hospitals make me SICK
This article appears in Aug 8-14, 2013.

#1. That was in 2008 and they’re doing the inquiry now. Don’t make it sound like it happened yesterday.
#2. They were not blaming the wait on the fact that his brain was damaged from huffing. The hospital is gonna pay for that mess. They were stating that his huffing was the ultimate cause of his death. Don’t mix the two.
This isn’t surprising. I went in – in pain – with kidney stones. I waited for HOURS. I begged the receptionist to kill me. When I finally got in, they gave me a shot of ??? which made me immediately stop screaming. I left with a Rx for dilaudid (morphine)… assholes
But if he didn’t have a substance abuse problem he wouldn’t have been in this situation.
Dislike away, but junkies, addicts and alcoholics can take the back of the line.
@ Scooter
1. who gives a shit WHEN it happened???? It happened and it’s a sick display of lack of humanity.
2. where is it mentioned WHEN it happened in the post? Op did not give any dates
3. it’s sick that they waited this long to look into it, and I hope those doctors working in the ER that night all lose their jobs if they are still in the field.
4. the article states “Sinclair died from a treatable infection caused by a blocked catheter.” therefore the huffing was NOT the cause of his death.
NON TREATMENT by slack ass judgemental assholes in the ER was the cause of his death.
Yes the doctors should lose their jobs, then everyone can have a 34 hour wait because of the shortage.
Think before you speak, or type.
Well do you want a doctor that would leave a man there to suffer and die in front of them? I sure don’t.
Frenchie – I would want a doctor that prioritized me (a taxpayer) over a homeless junkie
not that his death could ever be justified, but it’s hard not to agree with nukka
The indignant tone of the post makes it seem like it happened yesterday. So I do give a shit when people make it the ’cause d’jour’.
Did he co-operate with staff? If you can’t co-operate with staff, they can’t figure out what’s wrong. Your body isn’t a set of your tarot cards op.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree with what you’re saying. I’m merely being the logical one here and suggesting that there really isn’t enough context to make a sound judgment from your post alone.
Scooter you have no idea what you are talking about. Slow down before you embarrass yourself
From what I understand he died from an infection. Whether he already had a compromised immune system, I don’t know. Hopefully the inquiry will sort out the facts and hopefully rules will be set into place to help avoid this happening again. Just to state the obvious.
*writes Aquatics’ advice down for future postings” Thanks buddy!
1. The guy didn’t speak up.
2. Homeless people usually hung out in that room because the hospital didn’t kick them out.
3. The guy was a regular, who visited frequently.
I’d say it was fairly easy for a perfect storm to come together and have this man overlooked.
Also, to the OP. Chill the fuck out, you sound like an idiot. Just remember, YOU WERE NOT THERE, and YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
