I would like to remind all drivers to watch out for pedestrians. Do your shoulder checks, make sure that you are not blocking the entire sidewalk. In your car you are BIG, and you have a shell of protection around your body. As a walker I am SMALL, and if you so much as brush me it will HURT a lot. To often do I find myself dodging traffic when it is my right of way. Rushing will not necessarily make you get home faster. So SLOW DOWN, take a deep breath, so that every one can GET HOME SAFE. Thanks! —Pedestrian

Well now, if motorists would only share the damn sidewalk…
Can’t wait for the cars vs the zombie apocalypse, that should make for some interesting commute
Death Race 2000!
Inattention & impatience are the two worst traits that a driver or pedestrian could have. It’s 6 of one, half dozen of the other in this fair burg. I’ve watched pedestrians eyeballing their cell phone, oblivious to their surroundings. I’ve also noticed a number of drivers looking at their lap rather than look at the road. It’s pretty scary either way.
Go back to PEI!!!
On Saturday I was driving to the Cohn to see Ben Caplan with Symphony NS, great show!
From Quinpool I went down Vernon, then Seymour. It was dark, raining and although I have a good car with new wipers and a perfectly clear windshield and driving less than 30km/h I still struggled to see pedestrians. Between poorly lit crosswalks, poor weather conditions and pedestrians dressed in dark clothing it was a real challenge. throw into the mix distracted driving (which I wasn’t btw) and distracted pedestrians, it is no small wonder people are getting smoked crossing the streets.
I think drivers and pedestrians share responsibility to stay safe.
OK, well as a pedestrian I look both ways before crossing the street like I was taught at the age of three and I still almost get smoked by a motorist AT LEAST once a week. (I don’t own a cell phone by the way). On my walk to work I cross Dutch Village road and Joseph Howe. Dutch Village Rd is the worst. A car will stop for you at the cross walk but then another car, from behind them, will speed around them. I’ve almost been hit like this more than once. I have some old batteries in my pockets incase it happens again, I’ll be aiming for their back windshield.
^I always try and trade my used batteries on Kijiji for a couple new ones.
