Aisle wild
Last week when I went to buy my groceries at a certain store on Barrington Street, I noticed not one but three small birds flying and chirping (and undoubtedly pooping) around the produce section. Then, as if that wasn’t bad enough, what did I see scurry

Hmmm, I heard Loblaws was taking a beating with the Provigo acquisition years ago, but this is getting ridiculous. Though I do find that they have a better selection of items (more in stock) than Sobeys. Sobeys is always out of Cheerios or good buns/bread. They also never have the jumbo pack of anything (Cheerios, applesnacks, or canned items) either.
This is nothing new or unique to the Barrington Superstore. This is a problem for all grocery stores, and you’re not going to avoid it by shopping somewhere else.Sorry.
You got it, Alex. Taking your business elsewhere is pointless. When deliveries come in the night on the trucks, the huge back bay doors are open for any length of time while the stock in wheeled in on pallets. That alone is how many mice get in the store. It’s virtually impossible to prevent. The only way to improve the situation, the way I see it, is to have staff try to catch and kill them whenever they see them (here we go onto another bitch I see….) which as you can imagine, would take up a lot of time and disturb customers who notice the staff doing it. Most traps just don’t seem to work, and of course you will have customers see the traps and scream in disgust that they are out in plain view, etc, etc. so just wash all your produce very well when you get home. You’ll live.
I had to complain at this location as the window ledges were covered with dead flies. There were not just one or two but dozens. They were cleaned up promptly but I was suprised that nobody on the staff noticed them.
The store is on the waterfront, and like Rachelle said, you cant help it when the delivery trucks have to leave their doors open. I say, just dont buy the veggies with the bird shit on em, and dont buy packages of food that look like theyve been ripped open by rats. Problem solved. Just because you seen a rat, does not mean that all the food in the store is tainted. :/ In my opinion anyway. 🙂
all I can say is “ignorance is bliss”if you knew what was in everything and every where I can guarantee you would not go anywhere and not eat anything unless your own hands picked it. Wash you food as soon as you take it home.here it a stat just to gross out some of you…the criteria for a can of Tomato Sauce in the US to be approved for sales is one and a 1/2 maggots per can. Anything more then that manufacturor cannot seal the can and sell it…
