It’s a good question… I am shy as hell so I am in the same boat as you… Most of the friends I have now, I met at work, I got to know them a little then asked them if they wanted to go for a coffee or something… And that worked out well for me…Chapters is also a good spot, if you like to read.. grab a book, and spark up a conversation 😉 Funds low? THATS OK!! You dont even have to buy the book, just grab a frappichinno, and get to reading :)Good Luck!
Take up drinking.
Love The Way We Question.
And yeah.. taking up drinking might help as well… Not sayin to go get trashed, but it could definatly loosen you up to have a couple of drinks.., so you dont feel as shy, and you’ll be more likley to approach people 🙂
try joining clubs like Toastmasters or sports etc. also try singles night at a well known club (so that you won’t get into trouble) and if you run into ginger run the other way! lol
Faith makes good suggestions. Mine was obviously a joke. But seriously, there are some bar-related activities that don’t require drinking, like getting into the indie music scene (though that might require taking up pot instead). How about coffee shops – there are always interesting people in some of them. In the summer, ultimate frisbee on the Commons. Or walking your dog at the dog parks usually turns out to be a pretty social thing. Turns out dogs are more likely to approach first than their owners are – who knew?Hiking / skiing, etc.Volunteering.Church if that’s your thing.Making a habit of disconnecting from the internet for entire evenings and getting out of the house at least twice a week is always a good first step.
thanks Jammie 🙂
