It’s poaching season again in Nova Scotia!
How come politicians and law makers think it’s okay for somebody to discharge a high-powered rifle 180 metres from my house? Do they think it won’t hurt if I get shot from 180 metres?
People walk their children and dogs right past the crown land where these drunk poachers (not hunters!) sit, shoot and drag deer after deer out of the woods.
I’m not sure who is more stupid, the politicians or the poachers. —Non-Veggie

  1. yeah, it is a stupid law, made for stupid people. i hunt quite a bit, and would never ever think of firing my rifle anywhere near a house, let alone at it. a .303 calibre rifle is one powerful weapon, in the wrong hands, it can kill someone up to 2 miles or more away.

  2. Puts me in mind of a news report I read some time ago.

Mum is playing in the back yard with her 2 small children, she’s wearing a bright blue winter jacket and white mittens. Some fucking asshole with a scoped rifle see the mittens and snap shoots, kills her in fron of her children, and he has the gall to say “what was she doing wearing white during hunting season?”. Like Bambi wears a blue overcoat. Oh btw, no charges because he was just outside the minimum distance away from a residetial building.

If you can’t see what you’re shooting at…DON’T.

  3. when my folks lived in new brunswick, mum would put orange vests on the dogs so they wouldn’t get shot at

  4. Not big on hunting personally but but if you must, make sure you see hooves and antlers before you fire.

  5. Hire a sniper with night vision goggles or set up Arnold Schwarzenegger “Preditor” boobie traps.

  6. THE HUNTER’S ORGASM

Why do hunters want to go out and kill animals? It can’t be for food. They can buy their meat at the supermarket. So what is it? Why do certain men want to kill? I think I know. It can be called “the hunter’s orgasm.”

What is the hunter’s orgasm? The hunter’s orgasm is of the same sort any intentional killer gets when he inflicts death on another living creature. It is the “killer instinct.” It is simple “blood lust.” There’s no “reason” beyond the orgasmic joy the hunter has when he squeezes the trigger and watches the animal jerk back and then collapse on the ground. The hunter comes.

Sometimes however, the shot is not fatal. Sometimes the hunter has to go up and place the end of the rifle barrel close up between the animal’s eyes and blast a hole in its head. to “put it out of its misery.” The animal’s eyes roll back in their sockets. The misery, of course, was caused by the hunter in the first place but his “thinking” doesn’t take him that far. Then, when the animal is dead, the hunter takes out his knife and runs it up its belly, causing the guts to fall out onto the ground. The hunter comes again.

My suggestion is that after the kill the hunter should lie down beside the carcass and have a point-orgasmic cigarette or probably, in his case, a cigar. As he lays his head on the animal’s stomach before he disembowels it, he can re-live that moment when he saw the animal jump in the air and then collapse on the ground when, in orther words, he experienced the hunter’s orgasm.

    A pleasure as always.

Yogi Berra is right, Ivan, It is indeed “Deja vu all over again.” I take it you’re referring to that old thread “Going huntin’ on Friday” where Sucks and I ran the comment count to about 540, if I remember correctly. For some reason it’s not listed first in “Most Discussed” list but there you go.

But I’ve yet to hear a coherent explanation of why people do hunt. I was thinking that a connected explanation – not an alternative one – might be the sadistic need to have complete domination over another living being. What domination could be more complete that killing it? I see a clear connection with the hunter’s orgasm. Don’t you?

    A pleasure as always.

  9. If I could buy a nice venison steak or roast, if I could purchase pheasant & partridge in my local meat store I probably would. Yet even though I shop at local family owned meat shop & local veggie stores & farmers markets etc. I never see those options, simply because the Gov won’t allow it.
Some of us do hunt for meat. Many of us share with our families & friends or where I go to hunt, the meat brought into the camp by the efforts of the group get shared within the group. So even if you don’t get to orgasm by killing something (& that has yet to happen to me, no matter what I’ve shot in my life … perhaps I’m odd in some way)
You do get the orgasmic feeling from the taste of a perfectly cooked medium roast beast with all the trimmings, & IMO particularly, the wonderful home made beets & pickles, apple sauce etc. done by myself , friends & family shared amoungst ourselves each year & made with love of family (& friends ) in mind. But perhaps I’m out of line with being happy about the killing & torture of the poor plants as well .

Clearly, you missed the point of my post. I was asking WHY hunters like to kill animals. Your answer to the effect that you happen to like venison, pheasant and partridge is inadequate, as is your claim that friends and family get together to eat them and for the same reason. They are irrelevant to my point. So why do you enjoy killing animals, More. Is the gratification you get sexual or sadistic?

    Write back soon.

  13. Its not that I enjoy killing animals.
I personally believe there will be some serious problems cleaning them & removing the hide . Now I like everyone else here won’t be surprised that you know everything about skinning & gutting (cleaning) live animals. So if you would like to share how easy that is & your perfected techniques with the rest of us. I promise you I will start lassoing animals & walking them to the truck before cleaning them. Although I’m positive ( & I don’t even need your confirmation) that removing their heads & internal organs is going to kill them … at least getting them to the truck will be easier with them walking there under their own power as opposed to me having to drag them out of the woods.
I look forward to your insightful comments on how this tricky , yet necessary problem can be resolved… perhaps you can show us using say a dog or cat, perhaps you could post a video on youtube just to show us all how perfect you really are at it.

If as I expect you just come back spewing your usual drivel…save it. I’ve got a couple of rifles & a shotgun to clean, a hunting kit to check, cartridges to purchase , camp food & fuel along with a license (or 2) to purchase & don’t have time to waste on assholes who are all talk & no action.

As was to be expected, your reply was incoherent. My question is the same as it always was, i.e, why do you love hunting and killing animals? You reply, incoherently, that you “don’t enjoy killing animals.” But that wasn’t my question. To increase your chances of comprehension, read it over again to yourself. ( Try not to move your lips.)

You then proceed, incoherently once again, to make sarcastic remarks about my “perfected techniques for skinning and gutting live animals.” What are you talking about, More? I have no such techniques for skinning and gutting dead animals let alone live ones. That is your area of “expertise.”

Finishing with what I suppose you think is a flourish, you conclude that you “don’t have time to waste on assholes who are all talk and no action.” That’s brilliant More. One of your best. It just confirms my initial impression I had on “Augmented Reality” (10/08, 4:35PM) to the effect that you are just one more(!) of those “redneck blowhards whose empty bluster is totally unsupported by any reasoning process.” You see More, in addition to your inability to answer my question and your incoherent rant about skinning and gutting live animals, your proud assumption that your unsupported opinions are identical to the objective truth of the matter embodies the paradigmatic “stupid man.”

Go away More, and kill some more animals.

What about fishing? What’s your take on how it may relate to hunting if it does at all. Anticipation before the act of catching one is definitely there.

Also one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard is that it’s OK to hit a cow over the head and eat it because “the cow was born and bread to die and be eaten”. These people don’t think we’ve enslaved a species that would otherwise be basking in the shallow river had we not fenced them off.

In my ethical opinion if the prey is eaten it is less wrong than eating domesticated meat at least it was taken from it’s natural environment and had a better life then a ranch; and at least it had a bit of a better chance to get away.

If I had my way guns would be for war deterrence and self defense (as were originally designed), and animal can be hunted with bows. More honorably if made by yourself. Compound type Mid evil Mongolian style seem to be the most efficient and effective for limited resources.

  18. M&M …. sorry couldn’t get past the first line of yer drivel, before the brain refused to process the crap.

Please try & get out & mingle with humans, the human shaped maniquins you hang with now have completely confused you. The rest of the world has no interest in yer drivel, learn to speak/write something we can understand.

As you didn’t bother addressing the question of gutting & skinning a meat animal without killing it in the first sentence (although not disappointed I expected nothing from a windbag like yourself, & my expectations of you were met ) I must therefore assume you haven’t got a clue . Seeing as you haven’t got a clue, there is no further need for you to post on a subject that you know absolutely nothing about, unless you believe those plastic human shaped companions of yours actually understand you .

Enjoy yer tofu burgers, I am actually very happy you eat them…. someone has to or they’ll just keep piling up in warehouses until the planet runs outta space !

  19. goddamn denis, everytime i get a deer in my sights, i get a hard on.yeah, right, like that is ever gonna happen. some of us folk go hunting to just get out there to use our skills atracking, trailing, and then the kill. there is nothing sexual about it. now if you were to put a pair of antlers on woggie, well then look out. she would get shots all right, but not with a rifle, nyuk, nyuk.
denis, the biggest thrill is when you take down your first animal in the wild. be it deer, bear, moose, or human. and i really wish they would allow a human hunting season, just fucking once. i have a list of candidates for it.
starting out with polititions first, followed by rapists, child molesters, murderers, and all the way down to drug dealers and pimps.
but a guy can dream, right? no denis, there is no sexual thrill at all for any hunter that i have ever known. maybe for a pyromaniac, yes, hunters, uhuh. tell us really why that you would think that. there has to be an underlying reason, that you would even associate hunting to sexual fantasies. were you abused by someone in a hunting party at one time? or were you made to fuck a dead carcess of a deer or other animal? there has to be a reason. i await your response on this. and yes denis, that bitch,”goimg hunting on friday”, was fantastic, wasn’t it?

  20. daniel, fishing is all about drowning worms and/or other types of live bait. hunting is the time you take, to go out in nature, track, trail, and then take your prey. just like the other wild animals do, except humans use rifles and such. i have been long bow hunting, and believe me, it takes a lot of fucking skill, and sometimes strengh to pull that string back.
compound bows are for wusses. give me a good old straight bow any day.i’ve hunted with friends in eskisoni and down in lousianna back in the bayous. and there are worlds of differences there. i have hunted and taken alligators at 10 feet, and that is tooo fucking close for safety. and i have hunted deer and moose from as far as 1/4 mile with a bow.
yes, rifle hunting is easier, but not as fun. but we do what we do for the enjoyment of the sport, yes, that is what it is called. but like more said, we only take what we require and make sure there is no additional suffering to the animal. one shot, one kill. if i think that i won’t take it out at one shot, it walks away. you get a .303 ,260 grain piece of lead hitting you at about 300 miles an hour, and then tell me how much pain it causes. death is almost instant. and yes daniel, i have had to track a friend’s deer for him, about 5 miles once. and that was the worst i have ever seen. it was gut shot, and stomach hanging out. made me fucking sick to see.
i will be going hunting this year, and it looks like it might be my last trip out. i am getting older and legs are fucking up on me, so i can’t track as much as i used to. and that was more fun than the actual shoot. take it away denis.

    : Daniel Abraham (10/09, 12:11PM)

As a matter of fact Daniel, I do have a revulsion against fishing as well, but not to the same degree as hunting. Maybe I’m guilty of “speciesism.” The fish are, after all, cold-blooded creatures but apparently still do feel pain. How would you like a steel hook through your lip, Daniel?

However, I think you are wrong in contrasting meat raised for the purpose of human consumption – although think of the horrors of the slaughterhouse where the XL packers in Alberta “process” 2000 cattle a day – and the cold-blooded, single-handed intentional stalking and killing an animal in the wild whether with a gun or a bow and arrow. Both are barbaric. I suppose it takes more “skill” with a bow but the intent is the same – the intentional death of the animal and, one supposes, for the same reasons.

    : More (12:27PM)

As expected again, More fails to answer my question. Why do you shoot and kill a wild animal, More? More states that his “brain couldn’t get past the first line of my drivel before it refused to process the crap.” For More, that constitutes his “answer” to my question, i.e., there is no answer or at least not one he’s ready to admit. All More can do is bad-mouth those who disagree with him. That is as far as his “brain” can go.

In the same vein More tells me to “learn to speak/write something we can understand.” You see, the fault isn`t More’s failure to understand. Rather it’s mine for failing to write down to something he can understand. You’ve got to admit More, you’re a primitive.

When not attacking, More slides into borderline insanity. He shouts that I needn’t bother to post on a subject I know nothing about. You see, I haven’t got a clue about “gutting and skinning a meat animal without killing it first.” More is consistent, I’ll say that. In addition to being a stupid, malicious primitive, he’s also a sadist. I suspected as much.

    : Blow Me ((3:06PM)

Well Blow, all I wanted to know was just why a human being would intentionally go out and kill an animal in the wild? Why? Either it is simple blood-lust as appears to be the case with More – sadists just like to kill and see the animal stricken and die – or there must be another reason. It could be a psychological drive to control another living being. Perhaps the hunter is pussy-whipped at home and wants to assert his “manhood” in the wild by exercising total control, i.e., killing it. Or, and this was my third possibility, he has some sort of unresolved Freudian sublimated sexual impulses which finds orgasmic release at the moment of the kill. What do you feel at the moment of the kill, Blow? Could you describe it for us?

Those are the only possible reasons I can think of as to why someone would want to go out to shoot and kill an animal in the wild. It was the best I could do from the perspective of what is, after all, an irrational blood-thirsty activity which, in my view, is continuous with the homicidal murderer. Maybe from your perspective as a veteran slaughterer of wild animals, Blow, you might be able to provide additional insight into the activity.

    A pleasure as always.

  23. Painy Did you say the other day that your the same age as Obama?
Theres nothing wrong with a 6 foot tall woman that has shoulders of a line backer…I’m only 5 foot2 in. but I’m pretty strong…I don’t like being so short,(although I’m the tallest female in my “family”) enable to get something on a top shelf in a store,I have to use my brain to get it, if noone is around to reach for it for me.

  24. M&M ….I’m still waiting for my answers. Why should I even bother replying to your questions when you completely ignore mine ? WHy not simply admit you haven’t got any answers & are incapable of even putting some drivel together that could in any way be taken for attempting to answer me.
That IMO is closer to the truth.
You get nothing for nothing in the real world M&M . So put up or shut up.

  25. painy, you’ll always be a munchkin to me, you cute lil critter person. and boru, i likes em short too. big or small, i’ll love yas all, any chance i can get. denis, the thrill is not the hunt per se. it is the ability and knowledge of woodlore that gives me the ummmp.
my tracking and trailing have sometimes gones on for hours. from 8 a.m.,to around 3 p.m. and then no target yet in sight. the only thing i really feel if and when i do get an animal, is the elation that the tracking and trailing is over, and i have had a good pleasurable day in the bush.
that will soon end, as i have already stated. but the greatest thrill, is the outcome, of an all day roam, thru thick and thin, and like i said, the final moment of the day. i really don’t think anyone gets a sexual satisfaction from killing an animal. but that could change, if they let us hunt humans.goddamn, i would do it all year round if they made it legal.some people out there deserve to die.
but to the point, there is no enjoyment in any kill, just the feeling of accomplishment in a good tracking. sort of like the elation you get from baiting more or hugo. do you reach orgasm by doing that denis? i hope not. people hunt for a lot of different reasons denis, some for the meat, which is 10 times better than any store bought crap. or they hunt for the joy of killing something, to take an animal, instead of a human. some do it for the joy of bloodlust, or the feeling of euphoria that they might get. there are lots of reasons. mine is mainly for the meat. and let me tell you bud, it don’t come easy. i have seen me go fucking near all season, and just before the end, get my deer. but as i say, it is about the experience of the tracking for me. if i get one, fine, if not, fine too. you have to go thru the experience yourself denis, to know what i mean.

  26. Muntremoleman, I bet you eat veal. Sure you do. Anyone who eats veal can’t criticize anybody else for hunting or fishing.

  27. Hate to burst your bubble MM but I will educate you. Both men and women hunt. A successful hunter can save thousands of dollars over the years by hunting. A dressed deer of 150 lbs is worth $750 at $5.00/lb and that would be a small deer.

  30. M& M I answered your question on 10/08 1:43
I responded with more information on 10/09 10:36 as to why & asked you how it could be done without killing them …. you still refuse to answer. Why is that ( oh shit another question he won’t answer)

It isn’t my fault that you are so DENSE that you are completely incapable of figuring out the reason I and many others kill animals for food, is NECESSITY
I ask you how can an animal be processed into food with out killing it you have yet answer that , You are completely oblivious to the obvious. You can’t for even a momet grasp the fact that hunting and putting food in the freezer is work.
we cannot go & buy game meat locally.
You are the only person in my life that has ever compared hunting to sexual acts.
While I am personally turned off by your seeming preference to necrophilia !
I am all for sexual acts, unlike you ,my chosen preference are female humans & I’m only interested in live ones … they could have the sniffles, but I’ve gotta draw the line on those who no longer have a pulse ! !

    : More (10/10, 9:22AM)

Yes More, I grasp the fact that you hunt for the meat. But, being severely cognitively challenged, you failed to understand the point of my question. My question – I feel like I’m talking to a buffoon – was the PSYCHOLOGICAL REASON you hunt. You see, More, you can buy your meat at the supermarket but YOU WANT TO KILL THE ANIMAL YOURSELF. Do you understand the difference, More? Has the distinction between buying your meat and WANTING TO KILL THE ANIMAL YOURSELF percolated down to the level of your cretinous “intelligence”? But, of course More, I don’t expect an answer since you lack the reflective power to generate one. Keep skinning those live animals, you sadistic cretin.

    : The Dribbling Half-Wit (10:14AM)

You mustn’t tax your intelligence. Go back under your rock. And stop that dribbling.

    : Dim Bro Tim (10:12AM)

Dim Bro, we all know that the meat in the supermarket comes from animals raised for the purpose of human consumption. They’re called “livestock”. We all know that, Dim Bro. But that was never the issue. The issue – my God will they never grasp it? – was the REASON HUNTERS WANT TO KILL THE ANIMALS THEMSELVES. I capitalized the question, Dim Bro, in order to aid your comprehension. Now, Dim Bro, there were three possible answers: (1) Simple sadistic blood-lust; (2) To have complete control over another living being, including the power of life and death and, (3) Some sort of repressed sexual urge that is released upon the actual killing of the animal. Now Dim Bro, do you understand? I won’t ask you to choose, Dim Bro. Just nod your head slowly if you understand the choices.

  34. Another sweeping generalization takes the cake!

Where is the ‘Reluctant Hunter’ discussed in your post, MMa’am? You do know what I mean, don’t you? I’d understand if you didn’t, your limited comprehension of the topic is evident by the fact that you’ve limited the answers to only three choices.

Ever hear of the Bushmen tribes in Africa? They actually apologize (sincerely) to their prey after killing it. How does that fit into your orgasmic hunter psychology?

If you’re going to strictly address those who WANT TO KILL ANIMALS, then you’ve already answered your own question. They’ll kill animals for a plethora of reasons, some of which you’ve already mentioned (adrenaline rush, superiority, possible sexual orgasm)

More had asked you about your experience hunting and killing animals. Which would be…..?

  35. Ah yes, the Piled Higher and Deeper bullshit. You forgot the other choice (well maybe not forgotten but hoping no one else would catch on), to provide food for the family. Something man has done for tens of thousands of years before loblaws was even thought of. It is not evil or cruel or anything else. It is the circle of life. I know that in universities they teach a lot of bleeding liberal garbage that has no application in real life. BTW should there be some kind of apocolypse, don’t go to a hunter and ask him or her for food.

    : Dim Bro Tim (3:21PM)

Oh come off it Dim Bro? Hunters kill animals to provide food for the family? Why not take the car down to Loblaw’s instead? Now Dim Bro, how do you “know that in universities they teach a lot of bleeding liberal garbage that has no application to real life”? Which university did you attend to learn that, Dim Bro? Can you give us a specific name? What degree(s) do you hold? Would you tell us now, Dim Bro? No, I didn’t think so.

By the way Dim Bro, that should be spelled “apocalypse.”

  37. You’ve answered the question as to why some PEOPLE would want to kill animals. Not all Hunters want to kill animals, this is a fact. I feel you’ll have to stop generalizing all Hunters into the same group before your point becomes valid. Again, not all Hunters want to kill animals, and everyone who kills animals aren’t necessarily Hunters.

I recently watched a documentary on Speciesism, so I find this debate pretty interesting, as well as oddly coincidental.

  38. M&M (has to stand for Miserable Moron as opposed to Montreal Man) I cannot buy the meat in a supermarket…. in fact, I do not buy any meat in a supermarket, I get it at a farm or at a farmers market, all locally grown pasture raised beef, or locally raised pork or lamb. Not feed lot beef processed through XL Foods in Alberta ! I cannot buy venison from a supermarket , the local farmers or the local farmers market. WHat part EXACTLY of IT ISN’T AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE Do You Not Comprehend ? are you just deliberately being an asshole ? Or has your so called intellectual pursuits made you completely braindead in reguards to reality ? Or are you truely so fucking stupid you cannot grasp the concept of IT ISN’T AVAILABLE AT A STORE ??????????????

I personally believe you can’t grasp the difference between shit & silly putty. So you believe that since venison is a type of meat ….& you can buy meat at a supermarket. THen logically (or at least your fucked up logic) one doesn’t need to hunt deer, or moose , or caribou to get meat.

But as usual you are once again 100% in the wrong.

  39. OOOh bad me, I made a typo. Yes hunters provide food for their families. Is that so hard to understand? Of course it is as you spend all your time in an ivory tower rather than living in the real world. So where is your bitching at gardeners who grow their own food? maybe they should just go to the grocery store and buy the veggies they need.

I’m glad I didn’t go to university. They seem to churn out a lot of morons, well at least one in MM.

  40. MM

It’s just as Blow Me has mentioned. Chasing the prey is funner for him than shooting it. You missed the thrill of the chase. Sometimes (and often times) people see a piece of meat running around. In the military there are targets at the range that are a man grimacing with rifle+bayonet as if in mid run. This isn’t for a simulation; it’s for the purposes of dehumanizing the enemy into something that makes the emotional side easier to deal with.

It’s going to have to depend on the hunter how he or she views the prey. Sports athletes talk about the mind clearing in the moment type concentration that goes on in especially non team sports like tennis.

You’re not addressing the circumstances where people are actually so tranced and in concentration on the moving prey that at that moment of the kill they are similar to what an animal predator’s mind (yes I’m well aware of that philosophical issue) might be like. At that moment the hunter becomes un emotional and in concentration. Maybe with only the simple emotions of excitement and not necessarily the psychotic type pleasure I sense you’re hinting at.

In addition to that statement itself being incoherent, look at your sentence I first quoted. Now think, GG, what do you call that sentence? Does a “generalization” sound about right? Thanks again, GG. You’re the best. I can see you’re a real thinker.

    : More (4:27PM)

More, I know you’re severely conceptually challenged but your obtuseness is starting to pall. The issue – how many times do I have to repeat it? – is not where you do or do not buy your meat. The issue – wait for it – is WHY DO HUNTERS, INCLUDING YOU, HUNT AT ALL? I’m talking about psychological reasons, More, not about your belly. Now, read what I said over again to yourself, More. I’m going to do you a favour. I’m going to let you move your lips.

    : Dim Bro Tim (10/11, 1:27AM)

You’ve got to try and stick to the question, Dim Bro? Have you forgotten what it is? Read my comment to More over again to yourself. (Try not to move your lips.) But as far as your hackneyed contrast between the “ivory tower” and the “real world” goes, Dim Bro, all I can say is that I do indeed live in the real world although, it must be said, not in your conceptually diminished one. I know you won’t understand that because – focus your “mind,” Dim Bro – your world is, well, conceptually diminished. Now Dim Bro, go back to bed.

    : Daniel Abraham (5:40AM)

Ah yes, the “thrill of the chase.” How could I have forgotten? Your account of the hunter becoming “un emotional” (sic) and “in concentration” (sic) – are you a native English speaker? – was fascinating. What you really mean Daniel, is that the hunter becomes bestial, don’t you.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  42. As I’ve stated before, I am not a fan of sport hunting for ethical reasons. It’s just another example of how we view the natural world, ours for the taking with shits and giggles. I say sport hunting as opposed to hunting for sustanence as in the case some indigenous peoples around the globe.
So why hunt if meat is readily available at the supermarket? Monsieur states it’s because of some sexual release which I doubt, I don’t know because I do not hunt personally. More hints at the flavour of venison, Bro Tim at the cost-effectivness of deer meat compared to meat at the store.
Now, to be clear here, my issue is not about eating meat, I eat meat but more about having lots of meat around at a reasonable price but still going out anyway, out of your way in fact, to dispatch an animal.
With apologies to Daniel, cattle like most domesticated animals would not exist without the aid of people and would die of starvation if we all to disappear so comparing the existence of a cow to a deer (though they’re closely related genetically) is erroneous. A cow is reliant on us, a deer on nature.
We humans have always eaten meat originally by scavenging and as our technology evolved, by hunting. Meat and bone marrow provided the food energy to evolve the large brains we have. As hunter gatherers we became part of a larger ecosystem winding up at the top of the food chain. Unfortunately, our intelligence outstripped the ability of said ecosystems to contain us and they started to fall by the wayside along with a lot of it’s members.
Somebody mentioned pygmies and how they apologise to their prey. They felt a sense of loss even if their family needed the meat. In other words if they didn’t have to kill it, they wouldn’t. They have an innate sense of responsibility to their environment. Generally speaking, we’ve lost that. That is, a sense of responsibility to the natural world. It’s all about growth and commerce now.
Our view of the natural world is how can we use it? What can it do for us? Maybe it’s time to start repairing the damage we’ve done and use (reuse) what we already have.
So why do people sport hunt? A lot, particularly in rural areas feel that the forest will be there forever and no great loss is felt. Not realizing their actions may be symptomatic of a larger problem, our inability to take only what is needed.
Maybe a few more apologies are needed.

  43. Final reply to the Miserable Moron ….
I do not hunt for psychological reasons. I hunt for the MEAT . Try and grasp the simple concept of I grow tomatos in my garden, because I like tomatos. I make & can my own sauces, salsa’s etc . Its why I have blueberry bushes, not because I want to have philisophical conversations about blueberries . I know I can buy both of these items at stores…. I choose not to because I can do it myself. Can you not grasp that ? Are you really so dense that you believe that necessity & simply wanting to do something yourself , cannot exist without deeper philosophical reasons ?
    You really are dim witted.
Which is unfortunate, all that so called education & all you are is a twisted old fuck without a bit of common sense ,who has to go around looking (hoping &/or praying) for deeper meaning to in some way validate all the time you wasted learning about something that very often in real life has no meaning to the rest of us.

  44. Why do you think it is that every thread the poutine-loving crackhead douche bag adds his erratic, verbal diarrhea to he gets several people trying to explain things to him and show him how he’s obviously wrong? How can he repeatedly suck you assholes into his game of ‘I believe this and it’s definitely right because I use the right-click thesaurus so please don’t respond… snicker snicker….’ ? it’s just wall after wall of text. Not conversation, not meaningful debate… just TEXT. He’ll tell you the sky is green because you’re all colorblind and what you perceive to be blue is in fact green… and you’ll fight him on it. Duh…
He’s PURPOSEFULLY making false premises to troll. Get over it and accept that he’s just an immature teenage twat who comes on here after cursing out everyone who’ll listen on xbox live because he has l33t skilz and everyone else is a n00b. But go ahead… keep playing his game… because you HAVE to show him you’re right.

  45. You’re right Zed, I’m done. Explaining simple things to him is starting to feel like purposely banging my head against a brick wall.

  46. And have you noticed the only thing the ivory tower taught the Moronic Montrealer is to insult others and not provide any substance in a debate or discussion?

But then again I don’t think anyone on this forum takes him seriously. he’s sort of like the funny uncle but not as entertaining.

    : The Preacher (10/11, 9:47AM)

“Monsieur states it’s because of some sexual release which I doubt, I don’t know because I don’t hunt personally.” (The Preacher)

But of course, that’s just false. I offered “sexual release” as a possible psychological hypothesis as to why some people hunt. There were two others, simple blood-lust and the desire to dominate other species. The second half of your assertion renders the first half irrelevant. But the Preacher is like the hedgehog who, unlike the fox who knows many small things, knows ONE BIG THING. What is that ONE BIG THING? The ONE BIG THING is his insight into our environmental degradation. The unctuous environmentalist aka the Preacher knows that we are in danger of despoiling the planet. He know this but no one else does. That is the continuing subject of the Preacher’s sermons. One wonders, does he hold his hands in an attitude of prayer while he preaches? Does he cast his eyes upward to heaven? We’re not sure. But don’t worry, Preacher. No need to apologize. We all love the pygmies as well.

    : The Redneck Sadist (9:59AM)

Thank God its your “last point”. What is it? Well, it goes like this: “Try and grasp the simple concept of (sic) I grow tomatos (sic) in my garden because I like tomatos” (sic). There you have it. The Redneck Sadist equates tomatoes with living animals. That was his “last point”.

Then, predictably, he goes into his Redneck Rant: “All that so called education & all you are is a twisted old fuck without a bit of common sense.” Now there’s a nice bit of reasoning from the Redneck. And listen to “All the time I wasted learning about something that very often has no meaning for the rest of us.” Hmm, I wonder why that could be. And I didn’t know that the Redneck speaks for “the rest of us.” Were you voted in or acclaimed by clear majority? It must be his popularity and deep thinking.

    : The Dribbler (10:02AM; 10:45AM; 1:23PM)

“He’s PURPOSEFULLY making false premises to troll.” (10:02AM)

Really? How did you know that? I stated my beliefs about hunting clearly and honestly. I wasn’t trolling. But I know that the Dribbler won’t accept that. Why? Because The Dribbler is always certain about one thing – his certainty, that’s why. Say what you like about the Dribbler, he’s certain. That’s why the Dribbler has his unerring insight into my purposes, into my motives.

    : Paingirl (10:10 AM)

Yes PG, we suspected as much but do you know why? And, better yet, will share your reasons with us? Some people – not me of course – claim that a simple unsupported assertion without reasons is little more than a “brain fart.” I wouldn’t, of course, but some people do.

    : The Brainless One (10:22AM)

Explaining things to me? Like what? Surely you don’t mean your incoherent post of 10/10, 4:11PM do you? Were you hitting your head against that brick wall at the time?

    : Dim Bro Tim (11:33AM)

Now that’s interesting Dim Bro, I mean your claim that I don’t “provide any substance in a debate or discussion”. Would you claim that I’m not providing any substance right now? Could you support that claim, Dim Bro? Would you do it now? It would be a first.

And I’m not insulting you, Dim Bro. I’m just giving an accurate description of your intellectual abilities, such as they are.

    A pleasure as always.

  48. i think so monsieur, i’ll be brief. i read “ferdinand the bull” when i was 3/4 years old, it made me think about animals in a different way. we rescued unwanted cats and dogs when i was a kid and i have continued that tradition. i am not a vegan nor a member of peta but have always been concerned about animal cruelty. personally, i don’t consider hunting a sport or a pastime but everyone draws their lines in the sand, and sometimes the sand shifts

  49. well now, once and again, we have a debate on hunting.here’s a thought m.m., why people hunt. most as has been said ad nauseum, do it for the meat. some, but not that many, do it for trophy hunting, to get a big set of antlers or such. then you have the sadistic bastards, that kill for the sheer pleasure of killing something.
who and how do we define hunting, well try this. the genuine hunter, will go out in the woods, track or bait, and wait to see if an animal comes along. i don’t do the bait thing, that’s just too fucking lazy. i track. others hunt other types of animals too. wolves, coyotes, bear, moose what have you. they kill coyotes annd wolves for sport and their fur, which is not in real great demand. moose and bear, of course for the meat too.
killing an animal in the wild is not an exstatic thing. sometimes they live far longer than you wish. and that really pisses me off. others die very quickly, with little to no pain felt, by them. i do not personally condone the hunting of wolf, beaver, coyotes, or other non eatable animals. as this might be my last year in the bush, i am going to miss the taste and texture of deer meat, and rabbits. the legs are not what they used to be, and it gets harder for me to walk 7 plus miles in to my treestand. add to that, carrying my camp food and drink(water), altho there is a stream close by. so m.m., in regards to the reasons why some people hunt and others do not, is because they can, and want to. simple as that, no sexual gratification involved in any form.

  50. Urban intelligentsia just love the stereotype of drunken, beer swilling inbreds in orange vests and Mackinaw jackets turning the forest primeval into a mini Sarajevo for two weeks every autumn. Since the stereotype involves predominantly white males it is perceived to be “harmless”. Like most sterotypes you don’t have to look too far to find examples to prove the point, and for most people who are comfotable with stereotyping, that’s all that is required.
The best hunter I ever knew was a jovial Master Warrant Officer who lived across from us in Debert. He didn’t particularly care if he got a deer or not; he just enjoyed being out in the woods. But, those deer steaks were damned tasty when he did bag one. >: )

  51. Sure, I’ll be the preacher if that’s what it takes Monsieur. Just be sure to give generously when the collection plate comes your way. I notice you used the word “unctuous” again. The last time you used it was on Commandante Esposito. So I guess I’ll take that as a compliment.

Well that’s excellent PG but, unfortunately, it misses the point. Your post of 10/11, 10:10AM stated: “I agree with critter guy, as usual.” But the “critter guy” aka the Preacher, also missed the point. So what was the Preacher saying? He was saying what he always says in his holier-than-thou fashion: “We are heading for environmental destruction. I know, because I have seen the future. You must listen to me because, unlike you, I know best.” But, of course, environmental destruction was never the question which was – you might remember – what are the psychological reasons hunters kill animals?

    : Blow Me (10/12, 12:24AM)

“So mm, in regards to the reasons why some people hunt and others do not, is because they can, and want to.”

That’s very true Blow, but my question took it one step further: Why do they want to?

    : Ivan Sonofabitch (8:25AM)

Ah, I see it now. Since I am an “urban intellectual” the blame is all mine. I stereotype all hunters as “drunken, beer-swilling inbreds.” But the difficulty of course, is that I have never made any reference to any such stereotypes. An interesting move – trying to hang the horns on me – but one without any foundation.

(Postscript: Tradesmen came to the door to tune up the furnace for the winter so I was momentarily distracted. There were a couple of points I wanted to make.

    (1) Your poor logic: You must never extrapolate from one example. Your Master Warrant Officer, the one who didn’t care if he got a deer or not, is both logically insufficient to generalize to hunters generally and, of course, is irrelevant to the issue at hand. In case you’ve forgotten, it’s the psychological reasons hunters kill animals. Since he would also kill a deer if the opportunity arose, I’m not sure how he proves any exception at all. What do you think his reasons might be if he succeeded and killed a deer? Blood-lust? Dominance? Sublimated sex? Write back soon.

    (2) I couldn’t help laughing about your comment in respect to “urban intellectuals” who are “comfortable with stereotypes.” You can see it coming, can’t you Ivan. YOU are stereotyping “urban intellectuals!” Not only is your stereotype false but, need I say it again, it is irrelevant to the issue at hand. (In case you’ve forgotten, see #1 above.)

    (9:48AM)

No Ivan, your feeble attempt to “turn the tables” fell flat. In other words, you haven’t “hung the horns” on me at all. Not even close. You’ve got to remember that the issue isn’t stereotyping urban intellectuals. (If you’ve forgotten what it is, see #1 above.)

    : The Preacher (9:19AM)

Yes, I’m sure you would do anything it takes including preaching in your off-putting, unctuous, holier-than-thou manner. And no, I won’t “give generously” to your Church of Environmental Salvation or whatever it’s called. And no, my use of the word “unctuous” in relation to Commanadante Esposito was very definitely NOT complimentary. Like you, he had the same self-righteous, sanctimonious and yes, unctuous attitude and look what happened to him: He disappeared down the God Hole. Ever thought the same might happen to you?

  54. Ivan a troll by any other name is still a troll.
Attempting to show superiority because of so called ‘higher’ education, would be laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic.

I’ve learned in my short time on this planet, that some of the smartest people have little education. THey are so smart they are self taught & there is no one who can come close to their expertise in their chosen profession.
On the other side of the coin are the arrogant assholes who have a degree or 2 & have come to believe their grasp of a concept somehow means that they are a much beter person than those without education. Better than the people who grow their daily bread, keep their lights , plumbing working etc.
They have no ability outside the academic & while deep inside they realise they are basicly worthless if our present society collapsed & they were forced to labor for their living. They cannot allow that knowledge of what a waste they truely are to get out. It completely negates their preceived value.

I once had higher education explained to me by my brother, who has several University degrees – “Higher education is learning more & more about less & less, until someday you could know absolutely everything about nothing !”

In the case of our resident troll, the veneer over his boorish behaviour is extremely thin & his true colors come out with just a poke or 2 by people like you & I. The uneducated , unwashed he loves to look down on.
He also is too dense to realise calling someone who has worked all their life a redneck, isn’t always an insult even if its intended that way. THere is nothing at all wrong with a person working an honest occupation ,out in the sun & getting their neck burned red while doing so.
While I have spent a great deal of my time rigging in arena’s & studio spaces, I occassionally get outside for big summer concerts & have had a sunburn or 2 so can claim a red neck on occassion.

  55. Hunters kill animals, because, what else can they kill? If they didn’t kill animals, they wouldn’t be hunters. Dumbass!!

  56. But Montrealman, doesn’t the stag in the Chevy look happy about his first “kill” Doesn’t he pride himself on having stalked the game through it’s natural habitat, adopting the same wiles and comfort with nature as his noble prey. Didn’t he feel a thrill, possibly sexual when he got the “fugly woman” in his sights and brought her down at long range.
“One Shot, Nicky. Two’s pussy” said Robert DeNiro in the eponymous film and the stag, quite rightly exercised both mastery of his firearm and dominance over nature to kill, quickly and cleanly his target. And whether she winds up as steaks, chops and roasts in the freezer or as a throw rug on the cabin floor, I hope the stag thanked his prey for allowing herself to be killed.
Did you perchance ask the menials who came to repair your furnace, “Why the furnace needed to be repaired?” Did you then upbraid them for reciting a simple catalogue of mechanical imperfections rather than providing an ontological understanding of exactly Why Professor Dennis Cato and his whippets required heat for the upcoming Montreal winter. Were they left speechless by your perspicacity? Did they then retire to their van with heads hung in shame at their permanent position in the lower substratum of society?
    Did they overcharge you?

Mr. More – I learned a long time ago that formal education has little to do with intellect and nothing to do with one’s worth. I learned it quickly and willinglyand as a result I still possess all my front teeth.

I can also see that there is nothing I can say that will modify that resentment – it is who you are – so there is no point in my trying. However, there are just a few points I will make just for the purposes of clarification if nothing else.

    1. I do not troll. I have gone over this before in my reply to the Dribbler (10/11, 3:45PM).
    2. I have never equated “the smartest people” with those who have “a higher education” and you will not be able to point to any instance where I have.
    3. I am not one of those “arrogant assholes” who come to believe that their grasp of a concept “somehow means that they are a better person than those without education.” There is no connection between the two.
    4. How do you know that I “have no ability outside the academic?” On what basis do you claim to know that?
    5. How do you know that I would be “basically worthless if our present society collapsed”? How do you know that? The sharp contrast between my worth and society is yours, not mine.
    6. How do you know that I cannot allow the knowledge of what a waste I truly am to get out? How do you know that I am a “waste?” Don’t you find that rather arrogant, the very thing you accuse me of? No, I suppose you don’t.
    7. I’m sure your brother, who you claim possesses two degrees, would never have repeated that old stupidity about higher education involving learning more and more about less and less. That’s what those – or at least some of those – who have no higher education like to spout.
    8. I don’t recall anyone poking me to reveal my “true colours.” What colours would they be?
    9. I never look down on the uneducated. The unwashed, well maybe.
    10. The “redneck” refers to the quality of your mind, not the colour of your neck.

So there you go. Have a nice day.

I can relate to what you’re saying I tell no one in the construction industry of my interests in intellectual areas because most of them will immediately become more critical of me perhaps not being able to do my job when I’ve been doing it for 8 fucking years.

It’s the reason why I’m staying at the company I’m at now and not switching to the shipyard where stubby fingered hick fucks screw people they don’t like out of the job on a daily basis.

Out west the metal industry is so aware of the ignorant fucks around here who can’t train and know nothing about how to evaluate peoples’ skills that they refrain from hiring foreman from Nova Scotia unless they really need them. : Depeche Mel (7:28PM)

Depeche Mel would like the Bitch Community to know that she finds the present thread boring. Now what we have here is a classic example of unrestrained ego. She thinks her psychological states are of sufficient importance to warrant a public announcement. Has she anything to contribute to the thread that might mitigate her boredom? Of course not. But why not? Why doesn’t Depeche Mel have anything to contribute so that her boredom might be minimized?

Well, Depeche Mel has nothing to contribute because she is unable to contribute. But why is she unable to contribute? She is unable to contribute because she has no identifiable thought processes. She is without thought. She is a creature of her passions, her psychological states. That is why she is unable to contribute any reflections. She has none.

Depeche Mel’s comment, “This is boring” is in the same category as “TLDR.” The commenter who posts this wants us to know that the fact that he didn’t read a comment because it was “too long.” He feels that the fact that he didn’t read it is in itself of sufficient importance that it requires a public announcement. That is also called “unrestrained ego.” I’ve always felt that the comment should be slightly altered. Instead of TLDR, it should be TSDR – “too stupid, didn’t read”. In the same way Depeche Mel’s comment, “This is boring” should be revised to read, “I find this boring because I am too stupid to comprehend it, to say nothing of contributing to it.”

    How did I do, Daniel?

Define “airs”. I’m not passive aggressively responding I just don’t understand what that means.

  61. No Monsieur, I’m not sanctimonious nor do I think I’m better than anybody else. I’m just a bell ringer and I ring it loudly sometimes. I need to work on my end of things in being a better planet steward as well.
A topic of killing animals unnecessarily isn’t a far stretch from harming nature unnecessarily. Although the original post was about discharging a firearm too close to residential areas and the safety surrounding that act. Somebody started talking about hunting as a way to satisfy sexual needs and whether that was the real reason people hunt.
Why do people hunt Monsieur? The same reason they play sports IMO. The adrenaline rush of physically dominating an opponent with their skill.
Displaying hunting skills may be a throwback to the days where possessing such talents made one more desirable as a mate so it may be about sex after all.
Of course, in those terms, what isn’t about sex?

  62. tf

When a psychotic difference type (I’m completely for equality feminism I assure you) feminist buys sperm and demands that it is from a donor with a high proportion of homosexuals (which I’m not knockin) in his family and then she fails one of her students for suspicion of him having a crush on one of the girls in the class and “checking this girl out” one too many times; I will argue, it isn’t about sex.

I’m also well aware and fluid in many theories (as well as theories of my own) in evolutionary psychology.

There will rarely be happenings that have nothing to do with sex and are really just part of the partial absurdity of the universe.

You are calling us “puppets?” But puppets have no reflection, they have no thought processes. That sounds more like you. And how did you know that “this is better?” Better than what? What are you talking about? Of course, I know I shouldn’t ask that question since, lacking reflection, you will not be able to answer it. I was going to advise you that you should go somewhere so that you will not be bored but, and this is the problem, you have to transport your lack of any discernible thought processes with you. In other words, there is no “there” in that somewhere. You are condemned to boredom.

    : Daniel Abraham (12:49PM)

To “put on airs” is to act superior, to be a phony. That was what More was charging me with but, as expected, he failed to substantiate it. In fact, in claiming special access to my personal psychology, he was the one who was “putting on airs.” (Of course, he will not understand this.)

    : The Preacher (1:17PM)

Anyone who announces that he is “just a bell ringer,” just “a better planet steward,” is being sanctimonious. It is like announcing, “Look at me, I am a virtuous man.” That is being sanctimonious. The truly humble man makes no announcements about his virtues. As Epictetus said,”If you are a water drinker, do not go about on every occasion saying ‘I am a water drinker’ but rather take a good drink of water, wipe your mouth, and tell no one.” We do not need a bell ringer, a planet steward, to remind us that we should be environmentally aware.

I am that “somebody” who hypothesized that ONE of the reasons why people hunt might be sublimated sexual urges (“The Hunter’s Orgasm,”10/17, 4:54PM). However, such subconscious sexual urges was only one – which you have fixated upon – of THREE possibilities, the other two being simple blood-lust and the need to dominate other creatures to the point of killing them. My post was in no way irrelevant to the general topic of hunting. On the contrary.

I note that you compare the motivation for hunting with that of sports. You talk about “dominating an opponent with their skill.” Look at the last of my three hypotheses. Do you see a similarity? They are identical but you introduce it as your discovery.

She wants to assert her superiority, in the present case that she can express in three words what I, deplorably, take paragraphs to do. Of course, she knows and I know that this is just false. She hasn’t expressed anything but her egotistical arrogance because she can’t. She can’t because she is illiterate. She is illiterate because she is mindless.

I am starting to understand what you are doing here. There are limited ways of answering a question. Why in the question of justification and why in the question of analytical explanation. You are well aware when you are answering someone’s question that often times you aren’t arguing a justifiable “you ought to think” type view as much as you are analytically illustrating the playing field and clarifying(putting things into perspective). Most people can’t even see the difference between the justification “why” and the plain explanation analytical type “why”, so every time you go from one to another the person you are engaging thinks you’re dancing around the question when you are actually accentuating an explanation of what is going on (clarifying perspective).

the only time I get sketched out is when you avoid meeting people at a middle ground; but that’s your own business.

“Witty” and “concise” people don’t whine, “This is boring.” They don’t call people “puppets” without giving reasons. In fact, it is oxymoronic for them to do so. Only witless illiterates do. I neither know nor care if she is “cute” and has a “great taste in shoes.” Indeed, the latter is itself is usually a mindless marker. I’ve given her the chance to respond to demonstrate that I’m wrong but, as expected, you can the result.

I don’t read attachments since I’m forced off the site and have to start from the beginning all over again, and that IS boring. Want to summarize or are they fluff?

Don’t tell me you’re going to take up the cause of the “steward of the earth,” that sanctimonious twit.

I’m sorry I had to be sharp with your hero Boru, but I call them as I see them. I’m sure you agree or would do if you’d remove the stars from your eyes.

Sorry for not replying to you in my last post but it seems we were posting at the same time. You have given some interesting observations but, in my view, some others which require clarification, particularly about my methods of proceeding on this site. As you point out, my methods vary depending on the question being asked.

First there is the “why” question, what you call “why as in justification.” You are right. If someone responds critically to me – that is usually the case – then I will ask for their reasons. There have to be reasons if any rational dialogue is to take place. If no reasons are given in support of a critical response then the result is little more than a “brain fart.”

However, it seems to me that your “why in the question of analytical explanation” should rather be a “what” question. It is a demand not so much for reasons as for clarification, i.e., what does the person mean? In philosophy this is the first of the two main questions: “What do you mean?” (The second is, as indicated above, “How do you know?”)

Your comment about my “clarifying (putting things into perspective)” is just an aspect of the “What do you mean?” question. For example, I’m not sure about what you mean by “the middle ground.” If you mean that some sort of rational compromise might be made then the question then comes to depend on what you mean by a “rational compromise.” But what would a “rational compromise” in philosophy look like? Philosophical debate is not like economic bargaining – there is no such thing as a “fair and equitable price.” Philosophy is based on knowledge claims for which grounds must be given. It is never simply a matter of unsupported opinion.

I hope that this has clarified(!) my methods of proceeding philosophically.

    A pleasure as always.

  70. MM Due to me poor writing skills, I’ve been on the receiving end of your “poison pen” in the past but, you never came out and insulted me by calling me a name. For you to come out and call Mel a “sanctimonious twit” MM,your writing skills are better than that.

  71. He was referring to the Troodon Formosus “Steward Extraordinaire” Boru., a/k/a myself. I’m the “sanctimonious twit”. At least according to Monsieur.

  72. MM My apologize, not so good sir for thinking you called Mel a “sanctimonious twit”.I met Mel she is smart, funny and (believe me) beautiful.

Troodon You a “sanctimonious twit” ?! NOT. Besides Mother Earth needs a good man/woman to defend her.Thank you for doing so.

  73. Boru

God forbid if someone isn’t smart funny and beautiful. They would deserve ridicule for not being special……

    OK I’m done.

  74. Daniel “God forbid if someone isn’t smart funny and beautiful. They would deserve ridicule for not being special……”

I didn’t say that at all…Everyone os special in they’re own way.I truely believe that.Even you Daniel.

  75. Boru and many others.

    “even you Daniel”

Alright. If I have something to say I should say it.

Also note that I’m aware that I don’t actually know what you’re thinking i just have an impression of it.

Well Boru psychological engagement with you has been both condescending and un appreciative as well as exhaustive. I’m sorry if you don’t understand what I’m doing or talking about in most of my posts; I sense you automatically assume that if someone is different than you that there is something wrong with them.

Oh, and although there are brutish middle eastern cultures you have to know the middle eastern man or woman (there are fundamentalist women whom punish other women as well) before you can accuse some person who you see walking down the street and don’t know of those inhumanities. Each individual can be different. Just because he or she comes from a place where such disgusting things happen doesn’t mean they support it or even have the potential in their character.

As early as 100 years ago sexism and religiously motivated sexism was widespread all through Europe and the new world. It’s not a problem that only the middle east is capable of. Many people indigenous to the middle east have incorporated themselves into Canadian culture without bringing sexist biases with them and show the same love of equality as many African, Eurasian, Asian, Aborigine or mixture there of. All groups have individuals whom have embraced it.

Shunning someone because they LOOK middle eastern is it’s own related issue that I face directly at least once a week.

I guess it’s because you think I’m “trolling”, and I sense that you think something like “how could anyone in his right mind support these middle eastern people” (I’m not quoting you, you never said it. It’s just the impression i get from you that that is how you view my heavy point). Someone on an individual level IS NOT necessarily a complete reflection of the “attitudes” of the country they may have come from. I am not supporting sexist culture I am SUPPORTING THE INDIVIDUAL who could have different views.

If you see a man walking down the street who looks middle eastern do you automatically assume he is looking at you like you should be fully covered???? What about the white med student who’s going to turn around and check out your ass after you walk past him?

One of the stupidest things I’ve heard from people who have followed these threads, know me, and have brought up the issue is that I must identify with sexism to be so bothered when i encounter this discrimination when I’m not even middle eastern. I believe in having to know whether or no someone is in the wrong before passing judgement on them. That is what bothers me.

Some dark guy with thick eyebrows who gets a job at a restaurant washing dishes after he’s layed off from welding during the recession shouldn’t have three girl cooks going to the general manager telling him they’re not comfortable working with a Lebanese man who won’t respect them when I’m Northern Ontario Ojibwa, French and British in that order in the first place regardless of the decriminalization issues that are already involved with that. These people are fucking impossible. How do they take themselves seriously. It’s like they’re 12 years old without any adaptability to allow them to notice that I do my job and don’t even look at them. A generalization bothers them, let’s fire him and bring in someone else who looks more like us.

This is NOT a troll. When i wrote “Troll” all that time ago it was in response to that Halifax He Man Godzilla fuck for the disturbing “why do you look like a sex offender in your profile picture” comment that was erased by the coast leaving my “Troll” comment by itself. I antagonized because I was being ganged up on later but I was not trolling.

Sorry Boru when I mixed you up with hugo and you accused me of having trolled with a culture that stones women or something like that a massive fucking red flag went off. There is something VERY wrong here with what she is saying (I thought) and I doubted you weren’t alone on here.

There I had something to say and I said it.

  76. Daniel You said you work construction and you also have done work on your own home. Not everyone can do those things.

  77. Clarification

When I used the example of the middle eastern fundamentalist man and the med student I wasn’t implying that woman should be covered i was saying that there is bad here too. It doesn’t justify either but I’m talking about the singling out of the first.

  78. Daniel This was your comment to me.I had no idea why you felt you had reason to attack me

    “You’re 46….

What are you doing on here.

    “I’m not middle eastern.”

I’m not trolling. You’d like to think that but I’m not. I’ve just experienced the racism of a man who is and know middle eastern men whom definitely AREN’t like that. Why typecast them as the same?

They are human just like you.

Is that still what this is all about. I’m someone who doesn’t realize that there are brutally sexist cultures?

Why do you want people to not meet me?

“You see, this has been a very intense experience for me and you can think what you want but don’t think that you know me from a situation. I happen to find you interesting (although I don’t know you). When you warned people about me frequenting Celtic Corner to me that was you continuing it. I defend myself. Always have always will.”

Daniel If you had a question you wanted to ask me about something I said (althought I do not remember “warning”people not to meet you) why didn’t you simply come out and ask?I don’t understand the reasoning behind (what I felt was an attack)on “my” being a “HOUSEWIFE”,so the fuck what if I am JUST A HOUSEWIFE ? …When I mentioned that I was going to Celtic Corner it was an open invitation to anyone on this board to meet me there.

Yes I suppose I was making a generalization about middle eastern men, I do aplogize for that.
It sounded to me that you were being sexist.I am confused by your unwarrented attack on me.

Why don’t you apologize to me for labeling me as a troller just looking to cause shit. Bad things went both ways. You have anger issues.

    I’m condesending,REALLY?
You attack me unprovoked by putting down “housewives”.Then you try to not admit you were wrong.
Daniel you seem to have a selective memory.
Under a lot of stress again Daniel, you should talk to your doctor….THATS FUCKING CONDESENDING.

  79. Daniel Just because people went after you in the past doesn’t mean they are today.Chill the fuck out man…… Attacking people when I’m unprovoked isn’t my thing.

“Here in Canada woman aren’t stoned to death for walking outside alone, going to a bar alone, or speaking their minds on a bitch board. Well daniel you will get no where to evoke anger with me”

    That was ignorant and pathetic.

  81. MM
By middle ground I mean acknowledging the positive things in what someone is saying. Don’t change your behaviour on my account. I just thought it worth mentioning that it used to sketch me out in that it gave me the impression that you were here purely to make a point and then rigorously hold it no matter what. Even if you later saw it to be false in some way.

  82. Daniel You (unprovoked) insinuated that I was a bad mother,wife,etc..(housewife) by asking what a “HOUSEWIFE” was doing on a bitch board.Out of the blue, you insulted me and yes I allowed you to make me angry.I felt that if you could “get personal” with your insults so could I.You were wrong and so was I…

And I never called Depeche Mel (who I’ve re-named “This Is Boring”) a “sanctimonious twit.” I was referring to The Preacher – I haven’t changed my mind – who confirmed it (6:21PM). However, your apologies (7:28PM) are accepted but, as I previously mentioned elsewhere on this thread, what you say about “This Is Boring” may be true but it is irrelevant to the topic (Why Do Hunters Hunt?) under discussion.

Well Daniel, you have to give me an example of what you mean. Speaking about my RSVPs, the only point I am here to make is that if people criticize me for whatever reason that’s fine but – and it’s a big but – they’d better have coherent reasons for doing so. Otherwise, Montrealman will have to spank them. It wasn’t that long ago that most women

The “housewife” in quotation marks was satire, that is, wouldn’t some asshole call you a housewife. You won’t believe me and I can’t control that.

“everyone is special, even you Daniel”

Is extremely condescending. You’d mine as well hand me a candy and tap me on the head. So I unleashed what was on my mind.

Sorry I mixed you up with Boru that was an accident that should have resulted in laughing on all 3 sides.

  88. Daniel “housewife” was satire?! There was no LOL,NO FUNNY FACE.It was not obvious at all that you meant it as satire.
