“I listen to a lot of music, so it’s hard to stick to one specific sound,” says Halifax DJ and producer Woadie (AKA Thomas Ly). Since last spring, the young homie, aged 19, has produced and released over a dozen jams on Soundcloud that range from incredibly chill to incredibly turnt up. “I feel like the type of music I make would be great elevator music in a based world,” he says. “At the end of the day, the general vibe I’m going for is based, very chill and positive for sure.” Woadie seems especially tapped into internet culture, using kawaii and cyber art, putting out a (very dope) relaxed version of TLC’s “No Scrubs.” A recent guest DJ at Bleu Nuit, Woadie likes collaboration and has been playing live with Weirdo Click.

“I met XXX CLVR in high school and we’ve worked on several low-key things together,” he says. “At the moment, I’m trying to progress as a producer.” He also has an innate sense of energy and flow: “Wavy vibes are important. You just gotta be on that wave.”
