Lisa Drader-Murphy is going to have a better May than you. This Thursday she’s taking some choice items from her boutique in Halifax, Turbine (1475 Lower Water Street), to lovely Cannes, for that little film fest they have there. The three featured items (the Upside-Down Dress, a reversible leather hobo bag, and the Day to Night #27 red mineral lipstick duo) are all being packaged together as a Cannes survival kit.
Drader-Murphy is no stranger to the celebrity gifting table circuit—Turbine also had a table at this year’s Golden Globes—so we asked her to confirm our suspicions: that celebrities just whip through those rooms like bulls in a china shop, shoving each other out of the way to grab a bunch of free stuff. It turns out this is not entirely accurate. “Each of the 300 plus celebrities that have RSVPd will be introduced to me by their personal host and after introductions, I will invite them to select an item from the Turbine ‘mini-boutique’ in the gift suite,” says Drader-Murphy. “It’s very civil and I will have an opportunity to suggest an item and to whom it is given, although, there are times when several will be escorted through the suite in a row so, I expect it will be intense at times.”
And which celebrity would Drader-Murphy most like to hand a hobo bag full of goodies to? “I would love to meet Robert De Niro but he may be too busy in his role of President of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival.” Ah, whatever. He can make time.
Turbine will be blogging their fun here.
