But seriously. We finished on Monday, and we ended as we began, ironically of course — with a visit from the local PD.
Stephan MacLeod AKA Windom Earle opened the show with some karaoke skillz. He chose to do Kelly Clarkson‘s “Since U Been Gone.” What’s unclear is if he already knew what that song meant to me. It didn’t matter because I knew the show would be dope once I heard the backing track.
And it was. Everyone had fun, no one missed a line, again with the adding of the chairs. During the Amelia/Tanya kiss a friend leaned over and said “I love you!”
At the after party I told Fleury to keep an eye on me, and I would for him, because we both had to work Tuesday. And we agreed. And never spoke of it again.
I saw the cop not long after the live rendition of “I Used to Be Cool.” Apparently quiet residential areas don’t dig boisterous singing at midnight on a holiday Monday.
Now I know.
Waiting for the cab home I threw up on a parked car, my glasses and my hand.
A fitting end, somehow — all my Law & Order feelings were barfed out onstage, and all the stress from that staging came out at the end.
Might’ve been the vodka, too.
We will be doing a show in November with a live band, so if you missed us or got turned away (hi-oh!), there will be another chance.
Also they caught the drive-by groper the night of our second show. Coincidence?
