We feared something was wrong last week, when Celine Dion’s official website announced that members of the TeamCeline fan club could buy their tickets for the Taking Chances world tour. But before we got the Visa out, we saw the fine print: The ticket sale for the Halifax show, slated for next August, “has been delayed. We will announce the new on-sale date as soon as it is confirmed.”

Now we know the show’s been cancelled. Our heart is breaking. No, that sound isn’t laughter. That’s what our heart sounds like when it breaks.

According to a Daily News item, promoter Gillett Entertainment says “the singer will not perform at the Halifax Common on Aug. 23 because the venue is ‘not appropriate.'” This news hasn’t made it out to at least one ticket selling source, TicketTriangle.com, which currently has Celine on the Common tix available. For $270 dollars. Could the fact that nobody in their right mind would pay $270 dollars for the show (except city council, which is willing to pay $150,000) have anything to do with how “appropriate” it is to bring it to Halifax?
