To the editor,

In the July 13 issue of The Coast, I was a little surprised to read the letter to the editor about “Savage Love.” I support the column and don’t take too kindly to being called a pervert. I remember reading my first Coast with my brother in a pizza shop, but it didn’t become a regular read until I entered university. Of course, the only thing I read initially was the “Savage Love” column. Hearing people complain about sexually oriented problems hasn’t been new since Sue Johanssen got on the air, but this time we have a younger guy willing to dis the people and/or their sexual partners. People read the column not only for the “perverted” entertainment, but some of the problems that are written about are not isolated situations. Many people suffer from abusive or sexually ignorant partners, and reading the column tells you two things: 1) you’re not alone, and 2) some effective advice to take. It allows people to become more comfortable with their sexuality and the topic of sex. Looking for the column, I began reading the rest of the paper. In the end “Savage Love” is another gateway to The Coast. You got at least one more reader because of this column!
