Quinpool Road Cruise's green shift

This year's Show and Shine gets “Green Zone” with CREST Halifax to help showcase a green auto future.

The chrome-laden behemoths of the golden age of automobiles always make for impressive viewing. This year you can look into the future as well as basking in nostalgia at the Quinpool road cruise, known as the Show and Shine, taking place this Sunday, July 19. The Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association is working with CrestHalifax.org (with CREST standing for “Communities and Residents for Sustainable Transport”) to bring awareness to the possibilities for less environmentally destructive transportation in the future. Other organizations getting involved include Halifax Harbour Bridges, Drive Wiser, Car Share HFX and Metro Transit. On Sunday as you're checking out the awesomeness that is a mint '57 Chevy, make sure you visit their information stations at the dedicated “Green Zone” in the parking lot between Zephyr Rug and Home (6232 Quinpool, 446-4622) and Carlito’s Café (6220 Quinpool, 444-7555).
