Remarks: Overgrown weeds, cracked pavement, broken sidewalks and dilapidated fences are what you first see upon arrival at the school. What kind of message does that send to staff and students? Clark says patching the pavement has been a “summer project,” but the parking lot has been falling apart for years, and nothing’s changed this summer. Maybe the work will get done in the five days before school starts, but we’re guessing this is just another episode of the ongoing Screwing Dartmouth miniseries.

Who’s Responsible?: Wayne Clark, operations manager, Halifax Regional School Board, 464-2000.
