Remarks: When the dilapidated Dartmouth museum was torn down, we were told that the lot would be returned to Common green space, yet about a third of the area is now a parking lot. Bigelow says a parking lot is necessary to access the Common, ignoring the fact of the Bridge bus terminal a block away, lots of adjacent on-street parking and, ya know, the end of the oil economy and the collapse of automobile culture. Parking lots are sooo last century, says we.

  1. Don’t forget there are only so many parking spots available at the Bridge Terminal for Park & Ride and other non-Sportsplex patrons. The old museum has also been used to park cars normally parked at the Ferry Terminal and Park Ave. lots when the city does repairs or holds events, displacing Park & Ride users and if not provided with alternative spaces these vehicles will just end up adding to the already slow commute across the bridges or into Burnside. C’mon Coast staffers, think a bit before you bitch and moan about every little thing.
