What’s Wrong?: Intersection without crosswalk near William King Elementary School
Who’s Responsible?: Taso Koutroulakis, HRM staffer in charge of crosswalks, 490-4816
Remarks: Herring Cove residents tried for years to get a crosswalk painted at the intersection of Hebridean Drive and St. Paul’s Avenue near William King Elementary School. “So far the answer is that we don’t have the right number of cars going through the area to warrant putting in a crosswalk,” says resident Bethany Dugas. But last Monday, a driver hit Dugas’s son near the intersection. Koutroulakis can’t recall when last authorities examined the dangerous bit of road, but says “a couple painted lines doesn’t guarantee anybody would be safe.”
