Rolling Stone has just released a 40th anniversary edition. But Thorney, casual/non-readers might be wondering, didn’t they just do that last year with that heinous psychedilc Sgt.Pepper’s dealy? No, dude, that was the 1000th issue. This is one of three planned issues celebrating the mag’s birth in San Francisco in 1967. It has lots of Q&As with the usuals — Jagger, Dylan, McCartney, Spielberg, Scorsese, Nicholson, Young — plus Patti Smith of fucking course, and Jane Fonda. And that’s it for the ladies — just two women, apparently, have contributed to popular North American culture in 40 years. I’d talk about this more but my meatloaf is burning.
