Dear Tim Bousquet,

The point should not be whether one can trust Mr. Smith—it’s whether voters should have to. A fully auditable system like the one Canada already uses is better, because election officials then can audit it, and have a way to prove—not just ask people to have faith—that the votes were counted as cast.
