It’s all well and good to have another sandwich shop in Halifax (“Hali Deli has arrived,” Shoptalk by Allison Saunders, November 15), but I will really miss the old Cousin’s restaurant on Agricola.
Many an hour was spent lounging in this lovely old unassuming space, sipping mediocre coffee and enjoying an honest-to-goodness homestyle meal. the food was basic but the ambiance was first-class. The restaurant— in slight disrepair with evidence of three visible renos over the years—somehow blended well together as did the Greek Mom, Pop and son proprietors’ heart-warming banter.
I’ll try out the sandwich shop and I might even enjoy it, but Cousin’s will sadly be missed. —Steve Cauthers, Canning
