Many thanks for articulating so clearly the cringe and irritation factors of Promo Girl! (“Cringe festival,” March 16). Yes, I definitely vote for her as Most Irritating Canadian. At first I thought CBC had hired an American AM radio announcer or cheap furniture advertiser, and I used to turn the radio off every time I sensed her beginning her spiel—and still sometimes do—though I think they’ve toned her down a bit. Imagine my shock and horror when I learned that she’s from Atlantic Canada! I even wrote to CBC begging them to take her off the air shortly after her unfortunate appearance, but got no response. Can you believe that some people actually like her? Let’s vote.
