As a woman who dealt with sexual harassment at the CBC—who watched as this person went on to abuse again and then received a job with the provincial government even though the case had gone public the second time—I am infuriated by how little has changed over the years. This is not a Liberal issue, this is a societal issue. The “victim” (I hate that word) has to prove over and over what happened to them, while the perp can show remorse and be given “another chance” oh so easily. When the outer scars are healed the journey is so much longer and harder for the survivor…and triggers like the perp going back to excelling in their career would be a definite setback in healing. This article is disgusting. To use this woman as a political tool is wrong. I know Labi Kousoulis personally and he is an advocate for women’s rights and against violence against women. Not only were the Liberals’ actions a betrayal of Ms. Coffin and of the women of Nova Scotia, it also strikes me as a serious betrayal of their own MLA Lena Diab, who has gone through her own personal experiences of domestic assault. —posted by Tom Callum Fraser
