Ian Gormely’s story on BC “band of the week”, You Say Party! We Say Die! ( Say What? Oct. 27th) should’ve been slotted in the comics section of the Coast. I was rolling over with laughter over bass player, Stephen O’Shea’s description of his band’s song writing process, “There’s actually a lot of thought that goes into what we do”. Ha ha ha. And what thoughts are those Mr. O’Shea? What cool ValueVillage/Goodwill clothes go with the song’s chorus?
You Say Party! We Say Die! are one of those bands that will always be playing catch up to the rest of the Pitchfork hipsters. We in Halifax once set the music trends of this country. Having people attend a local You Say Party! We Say Die! gig is like admitting that lesser musics have prevailed.
I’ll be staying home this Saturday playing Parcheesi in defiance of such shite.
