Last year I made a decision to ban movies at Bayers’ Lake for both personal and political reasons. It’s a one-person (well, two, because I made my husband do it too) protest against Empire’s shitty programming–why do you keep putting “downtown” films out there?–and against the BLIP’s non-existent walkways, ditch-digging bus stops and over-indulgent commercialism. I was tempted to break the protest for Fast Food Nation but now that Last King of Scotland, a movie I really want to see, is going out there (WHY? WHY?), I’m really feeling my convictions. It’s hard being principled.
