To The Coast,

I feel compelled to write something about the Junos.

$150,000 from DTCH and $30,000 from the Come To Life Initiative and we get some themed decorating contests, a few local artists freezing their unappreciated tushies off in Grand Parade, and some variation of an Exclaim hockey game.

The lack of true local representation is dissapointing, almost as dissapointing as the number of Canadian Idol rejectees being nominated. Where is the money for local acts that fit the Come To Life mandate of telling Halifax’s true story? Where is the money for diverse Halifax and Nova Scotian representation that includes artists not on select rosters, and a community that extends beyond the downtown?

I encourage the people of Halifax to throw their own shows, actually get dirty, and maybe have some real fun.
