I am well aware that this is old news, but having just returned from a week’s sojourn in Toronto, I still want to talk about it. Kayne West is opening for the Rolling Stones when they come to ruin the Halifax Common. It’s $100. Or for a student, $79. Which is much more reasonable. But I still can’t do it. I certainly don’t want to see the Rolling Stones, not even as a morbid joke, and the thought of all those people crammed onto that lawn scares me (primarily, I am afraid of pick-pockets. It’s a very quaint fear, but I’ve held it since I was a child). But I love Kayne West, and I think it’s important to catch him before he puts out a crappy album. He’s getting a little nutty, I’d really like to see him before he gets bad. Why can’t he come on his own? In the Metro Centre or, even better, the Forum? I can’t even really see the Rolling Stones liking Kayne, let alone asking him to play with them. I mean, I know it just happened, but I honestly can’t really picture a more embarrassing picture than Keith Richards bobbing around his mansion in his silk bathrobe, making a wheatgrass smoothie, blasting “Late Registration”. God. Picture it. I just threw up in my mouth a little.
