Dear Lezlie Lowe,
I wish I’d had the chance in the last few weeks to meet you in the streets. I would not have mentioned slugs or crocs or Brazilian waxes.
No, if I had met you on the street, I would have talked to you about your winning trilogy on the face of AIDS in our community (“Hitting home,” October 12, 2006; “Living with HIV,” December 14, 2006; “Living positive,” December 21, 2006). I know all the facts about AIDS. You were able to bring some reality to those facts to a person like me, who has never been affected by the disease in my group of family and friends…to my knowledge. Well done.
